If you did you'd be out by a couple of percent as the SOL no longer holds 49,000.

Re: Derby build-up thread - Newcastle Utd vs Sunderland - 20/03/16

Strange how the derbies have gone in phases over the years. In the eighties they were generally low scoring affairs with quite a few draws. Then there was a good(bad for me!) spell of newcastle dominance where the two teams were genuinely mismatched. Then there was the Reid era where we got a few r...

Re: Rafa Benítez Confirmed as NUFC Manager

Just checked the table. I think you can draw a line below Watford now and pray that Palace/Swansea smash into the buffers big time. Sadly i think even if their wheels fall off momentum alone will just about get them over the line.
It'll interesting to see what points/GD are required this season.

Re: Rafa Benítez Confirmed as NUFC Manager

It's in the hands of any of the three main contenders to save themselves and results wise it looks like neither will have to achieve the impossible to do it. As you say, just a handful of results strung together should be enough but doing it is different to talking about it. It's a strange one this...

Re: Rafa Benítez Confirmed as NUFC Manager

I wonder how all of this will pan out. Still everything to play for this season but relegation is still a possibility. If the best/worst happens will he stay for a crack at the Championship? Hasn't been left with many games this season but then again he doesn't need title winning form, a handful of...

Re: Was getting rid of Chris Hughton a mistake?

Hughton is a good fella who did everything that could've been realistically expected of him and possibly a bit more. Was treat quite shoddily by the club for his efforts. If the support base was right behind him to a man though maybe the club wouldn't have got away with it so easily. In my opinion f...

Re: Colback

That's part of the problem, defining the reality of what actually is his best position. In my opinion Colback is a LB who also plays in midfield. Long term LB is the position he could develop into a good/very good standard. He'll probably always lack a key attribute or two to be a great midfielder....

Re: Colback

I think if you saw Colback playing LB regularly your order might change. I'm not convinced. His best position is supposed to be CM which would suggest he's worse at LB than he is at CM. Since he's not very good at CM, probably a Championship CM, I'm not sure I'd want him at LB. Though Haidara is ho...

Re: Colback

I agree, he should have been at LB yesterday. In terms of LB preference he'd be my third choice but I'd much rather have him there than in midfield. Order of LB's: Dummett > Mbabu > Colback > Haidara = Aarons. I'd have all of Tiote, Anita, Shelvey and Saivet ahead of him in CM though. I think if yo...

Re: Colback

In fairness Dummett is better than him and Colback has spent most of the season starting in midfield. Since our wonderful new signings he's been injured a fair bit. Yes but it looks like you're currently really struggling to fill the position and reading many posts it doesn't sound like newcastle f...

Colback

Watched a good chunk of the Chelsea game and i can't understand why Colback isn't in the side at Left Back. Maybe not for me to advise but he'd do a far better job than those currently "having a pop at it". LB is a bread and butter position for Colback, nothing flash, nothing fancy, he just does wha...

The round "bukta era", the "letters one" in the badge shown and the current "crest type". As an outsider i think the o...

Re: Best Retro Strips

In terms of nostalgia for kits I have to look back to the NY Cosmos and remember watching the likes of Chinaglia and Pele. I recall seeing Pele in a testimonial and my dad had to buy me the top which I still have http://gazzettaworld.gazzetta.it/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Giorgio-Chinaglia-NY-Cosmo...
