Re: Potential Saudia Sponsorship to be announced?

At the match yesterday Saudia appeared regularly on the electronic advertising boards around the pitch. First time this season that has happened. I think they'll end up being our shirt sponsors next season. I suspect they wanted them to be shirt sponsors this year as they tried to get out of the Fun...

Re: Football Titbits

Ah I misunderstood and thought he was only getting fined and no ban. Still, if they FA actually want to stop this behaviour they undoubtedly need to implement serious punishment. Start with a 3 game touch line ban, second offence in a year and it doubles to 6 games and so on. You were correct. He i...

Re: Matchday thread - Tottenham Hotspur v Toon

I'd be happy with a point though even that might be a step too far today. Injury list is getting long with Isak, ASM, Ritchie, Dummett, Manquillo and Darlow all out. Rumours that Joelinton is also out and Bruno isn't available because his wife has just gave birth. It doesn't seem like Shelvey is rea...

Re: PIF Takeover - 1 year on

It's been a brilliant first year. Off the pitch, they’ve been rebuilding everything that was left to rot under the previous regime. St James' Park has had a face-lift, the training ground has been refurbished, key positions such as CEO and Sporting Director have been filled with top professionals (E...

Re: Football Titbits

If none of the referee, linsemen, fourth official, VAR official or assistant VAR official knew about or noticed the player playing everyone onside then something is seriously wrong. This reason we have VAR is to spot clear on obvious errors such as this. They have access to every camera angle, they ...

Re: Football Titbits

To be fair there is a hell of a lot going on there and the goal is being over analysed from dodgy angles and unofficial freeze frames, along with whatever "tech" Sky Italy is using. To me that's Juve/Italian media grasping at straws to find controversy. I don't think the refs have made a blunder, f...

High risk games where fans can't be trusted to behave are off. Other games are on, good decision which makes sense.

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Crystal Palace

The standard of refereeing in the Premier League this season is by far the worst it has ever been. It's been getting worse and worse that past few years but they've reached a new level of incompetence this season. These clowns surely can't be the best the country have to offer. Most them need to be ...

Re: The Managerial Merry-Go-Round Thread

<laugh> I mean he did well to get them promoted, they didn't really spend any money (that I can recall) and were likely to be relegated anyway so to sack him so soon (even after a 9-0) is a bit of a surprise. Agreed. Especially since 3 of the first 4 games were against Man City, Arsenal and Liverpo...

Re: Journalist Reliability Tiers.

I'd drop Fabrizio down a tier. When it's known a club are bidding for a player he just jumps the gun and says it's done even though negotiations are still often ongoing. For example when he said the Pedro deal was done at the beginning of the week even though it clearly isn't. He's had a very hit a...

Re: Other Clubs Summer Transfers/Rumours 22/23

That would have been a good deal four years ago. He's 30 now, 34 by the end of his contract (or 35 if he triggers the extension clause), seems like they're becoming a bit of a retirement hone for ageing players seeking one last big payday. Casemiro, Ronaldo, Eriksen and in recent seasons Cavani, Mat...

Re: Summer Transfer Rumours/Wishlist 22/23

We've signed two outfield players (Botman and Targett) not one. There is still plenty of time left in the window and it's often the case that there is more movement towards the end of the window. We're in a position of strength in that we don't desperately need to sign anyone, we can bide our time u...
