Good point, unless we cut our losses with Hall
Rumour that the the obligation for Hall is that we avoid relegation.
Doubt it would be that simple

Re: Transfer Rumours/Wishlist

Not the worst option going forward, but I imagine it'd be a loan. If I remember the rules correctly only allowed two loans domestically, obviously Hall being one of them. So bringing in another loan left back would tie up our loan options considerably. No Phillips, for example. West Ham had a simil...

Re: Howe under pressure?

It will always take time for a keeper and back line to sync on things Pope definitely quicker off his line alright. Without being at ground unsure of how vocal he is. We have been scouting Georgi Marmadashvili from Valencia for the year I doubt anything will happen on that front until the summer th...

Re: Howe under pressure?

Agreed, a stop gap keeper is utterly pointless and pretty insulting to the 3 remaining in the squad. Dubravka isn't playing nearly as badly as some are making out, and stopped it from being 5 or 6 conceded against Forest. I still think we need a long term upgrade on Pope, mainly for distribution (a...

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v 'Pool

7.2 xG for Liverpool shows that this wasn’t a contest in any way, shape or form. This is a tiny bit misleading though. 2 penalties (that weren't penalties) and the Trent rebound from 6 yards will account for over 2 xG. 2 of the goals scored were literally open goals from inside 6 yards so will like...

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v 'Pool

Good summary Benny. Agreed with everything. Left back definitely needs an upgrade , I did hear rumours of another young right back being considered for January but can't remember who, maybe plan to move Tino over there permanently. Rw needs an upgrade but tbh that can probably wait until the summer ...

Re: Howe under pressure?

I hate doing this but it's ripe in the media right now.. I suppose the simple question is how safe is Howe's job? I for one have faith in him, we're currently way ahead of schedule and are reeling from the extra pressure it brings as we didn't expect to be in this position so soon. On the flipside ...

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Chelsea

I think that Lua-Lua match was from an earlier season, however 2010-11 had a few, including 6-0 Aston Villa home opener with the moonshot PK, that West Ham one, 5-1 Sunderland. Mixed with a fair few 0-0 draws too. Was such an odd first year back in the league. I remembered those myself, but skimmin...

Re: The Managerial Merry-Go-Round Thread

Yeah they've been poor, losing 5-0 didn't help at all, owners were just waiting to pull the trigger after that.

Still think they'll stay up as Burnley, Luton and Sheffield Utd aren't great either.

Re: Lewis Hall Deal Closed

This. I feel like he's not been that impressive and that 35mil could be used for somewhere else which is more of a priority such as finding a long-term successor to Schar, RW upgrade on Miggy, an alternative LB someone similar to Tino (young, fast and technical) and a long term successor to Wilson ...

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Spurs

It's also not surprising that despite the lack of squad depth the team was able to pull off some good wins, but with the mounting fatigue the cracks have shown and form has worsened. Unfortunately I don't know where the rest and recovery is going to come from right now to reverse things given how b...

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Spurs

Watched back highlights this morning, definitely look like their running on fumes. Tbh we all knew this is what would happen with the depth we have. I think the only up in this run is the experience it's given young Miley. Depending on how long we're counting this "run" as we've beaten Chelsea, Man...
