Re: Official Match Day Thread - Newcastle vs Metalist Kharki

Better corner from Cabaye, he put it into the danger zone which caused a bit of chaos.. shame about the finish though.

Good save by Krul. Need to score soon though because I can see them nicking one on the counter.

Re: Official Match Day Thread - Newcastle vs Metalist Kharki

Anita should have started, but over who? Cabaye's been playing well, Sissoko has been a beast and Tiote looked good on his return from the African Nations against Spurs AND we need that defensive midfielder in there to give us the right balance. Anita is a good player but he's more suited to the rol...

Re: Official Match Day Thread - Newcastle vs Metalist Kharki

A very strong midfield trio though, can't deny that. Cabaye pulling the creative strings in his ''deep-lying playmaking'' role, Tiote acting as the defensive shield and the powerful, pacey, goalscoring threat and physical box-to-box in Sissoko. Although on the other hand we have the lackluster and i...

Very good line-up, except for Gutierrez still starting. <doh>

I would have preferred Marvo.

Re: A decent article on Steven Taylor

I genuinely think he's underrated by the media. He's a top quality CB and would have many a cap if he weren't so unfortunate to be in the same era as Terry and Ferdinand. Don't know why the media underrate him though, he's been captain of the U21's on numerous occasions and last season was part of ...

Re: Who should be 1st choice on the left of our midfield?

Marv has barely played from the start on the left. Anyone that thinks we should keep Jonas as a squad player needs to rethink. Yes he has benefits as a squad player, but not for £50k a week. Gouffran works harder than him and offers quality going forward. Gouffran and Benny should be our wingers. T...

Re: Metalist (H) Formation Porn

Anyone know when Benny will be back? Sky Sports News said this morning that he was out with a virus rather than his hamstring. <scratch> I'd go with: Krul Simmo - Saylor - Yanga Mbiwa - Santon Tiote - Cabaye Marveaux - Sissoko - Obertan Cisse Bench: Elliot, Colo, Haidara, Anita, Jonas, Fergie, Shol...

Re: Official Match Day Thread - Newcastle United vs Tottenha

Sissoko will be vital tomorrow. His height, power and pace in midfield will be huge for us in away games I think. I'd go with an unchanged line-up with perhaps Tiote in for Perch. Jonas right wing to help out with regards to Bale and Gouffran will also help out with regards to Lennon. Stop the wing...

Re: Midweek internationals thread

Disappointed with Brazil tonight. There squad isn't what it used to be. I don't think they'll win the World Cup next year but they'll get atleast to the semi-final/final. There defense looks weak, dodgy and shaky without Lucio and Thaigo Silva. There midfield isn't that great and they have no real q...

A striker with very good pace, technical ability, strength, power and a very good goalscoring record. Wilfred Bony? <whistle>

Re: Re: Rate the Player, Day 14: Carles Puyol & Nicolas Anel

Puyol 87 - World-class, a true leader and has always been excellent in his performances for Barca and Spain.

Anelka 80 - Very talented striker, one of the best in Europe but his attitude has let him down and I think if he stayed with Madrid for a few more years he would have been incredible.

This. I would love Benteke at the club. Big, strong, physical, pacey, good link-up play and can score goals. Much better than the overrated and overhyped Carroll. <ok>

Re: Who should be 1st choice on the left of our midfield?

Gouffran <ok> He looked great yesterday both offensively and defensively This. Marvo would be my second choice. Gutierrez is simply not good enough anymore. Yes he gave a very good display on Saturday but that doesn't change my opinion that he's been on a decline since last year, he doesn't dribble...

Re: Mata out of tomorrow's game

His goal was sublime to be fair, if Chelsea don't qualify for CL i hope he moves on in the summer, he'd be amazing in a title team like Man U or Man City. Yeah his technical ability is absolutely wonderful. Touch, close control, skill, dribbling, passing, shooting ability, creativity and vision. Ex...

Re: HE'S MAGIC YOU KNOW

Quality box-to-box midfielder. Has all the attributes to become one of the best midfielders in the Prem. Powerful, strong, physical, pacey, athletic, defensively sound and technically adept. What more could you want? He's looking like the ''complete'' midfielder.
