The good news is that Trump is out. The bad news is that the USA are better at elections than us.

Better in what sense? The process or the result?

I think both systems are far from perfect.

Just the result. They voted the racist egomaniac out.

Don't see how you can conclude that. Trump was clearly a racist egomaniac when they voted him in four years before. They weren't better then.

And 70m still voted for him again.

I think you can only conclude that enough fence sitting non-voters decided to make a stand for once having been given a second chance to make a good decision. Can't think of a comparable comparison with a recent UK vote.

Yeah but they voted him in. We've only voted borus in once (and he got less than half the votes)

Hilary Clinton got more than 3 million more votes than trump did 4 years ago but still lost, so at least we can say that the slim majority of voting Americans have some common sense.

I'm going to bet a lot of Republicans only voted for him because he was running for the Republican party but because he is Trump .

His total number of votes rose massively. He got 71m votes so far, Mitt Romney in 2012 got nearly 61m. He drove turnout, for and against.

I hate him but clearly he has tapped into a deep well of something rotten. another similar candidate, or him /his son will be up again in four year's time

Agreed. We could be at the start of this problem rather than the end

You have to wonder how many of those Republican votes are actually anti-Harris as she's is inextricably linked to the politics of Bernie and AOC.

I thought she was not liked by the left of Dems? Don't like her record with Police brutality as a DA etc etc

Yep she's neither liked or trusted by the Bernie/AOC crowd, because as you said her record on crime and also doing a u-turn on medicare for all when it was convenient for her. Considered to be a career politician with no defined progressive policies that she won't abandon at a moments notice if necessary to further her career.

Saw a link on the BBC News page - "People 'turn to custard and gravy' in the pandemic" and was really f***ing intrigued. Turns out more people are buying custard and gravy at the moment. Disappointed <ergh>.

Alright lads, been a while. Good to see everyone's still f***ing miserable and waiting for the world to end <roll>

Genuinely came on here to make sure everyone hasn't turned into raging right-wing Qanon Trumpers. Social media is a f***ing cesspit right now.

Anyway, hope everyone's keeping well.
