I was in the Head of Steam on the Quayside on Sunday and opted for a pint of Vedett only to be stung for £6. Totally not worth itBodacious Benny wrote:Yeah, good in summer though with tables outside.PTAO wrote:
Yeah usually go there when waiting for trains, nice meeting spot. Bit small though!

Made a good change, usually in London it's about £6 for a pint of something bang average so to get decent beers for that price was a surprise.

Vedett is fine for about half that price...not £6!Micky Quim wrote:I was in the Head of Steam on the Quayside on Sunday and opted for a pint of Vedett only to be stung for £6. Totally not worth itBodacious Benny wrote:

Vedett on draft is still quite rare to find in pubs so it doesn't surprise me that it's pricier. Essentially it's the premium draft lager.
A place near me sells Fosters, Carling and Amstel on draft and the Amstel is £1 more expensive.

Its available all over, albeit not in draft. But not expensive in bottles. Dunno, maybe its just that that its on draft form but it seemed over the top to me

Desperados is a classic case of adding together two good things doesn't make a good third. I like tequila and beer* but not together. New fancy cocktail place near me all about unusual combos. No I don't want a cocktail with whisky and Guinness, its grim.
(ok I probably wouldn't like the underlying beer in Desperados on its own)
