I was working in the kitchens and had told all the kitchen porters that they had to wear the safety shoes provided by work because trainers provided little to no protection against potential mishaps. Alas, they hated wearing them and ignored me most of the time.

One night a KP was cleaning the back wall of the kitchen and standing on one of the work surfaces. He's busy and trying to get the job done ASAP and forgets that the deep fat fryer is also along the back wall. I was stock counting with the other chef on duty and we heard a scream, ran into the kitchen and he was standing there screaming with his foot stuck in the fat fryer, too shocked to move.

We grabbed him, dragged him out and shouted to a waitress to phone an ambulance. The KP has passed out now from the pain and I looked at his foot and nearly threw up as the entire trainer had melted around his foot.

We picked him up and took him out the staff room, asked for a bucket of ice from the bar staff and within minutes we'd managed to get his foot into ice water to stop the fat from continuing to cook his foot as it was trapped at over 200 degrees inside the trainer.

The ambulance showed up and quickly got him to the hospital. The guy was in such a state that his toes 'melted' together and when they cut off the trainer, all that was left was essentially the bone.

Never saw the bloke again but when I told future KP's that story, they wore the safety shoes.

I'd have just carried on wearing trainers and not stuck my foot in a fat fryer. <scratch>

Cut up a ghost chilli, didn't wash my hands, took a piss.......

I tried everything, even dipped my cock into a glass of milk. It burned like Satan's rage for hours.

I've rubbed my eyes a few times after chopping chillies. Always deeply unpleasant.
