JD Single Barrel reduced to £25 today online, in stores as of tomorrow.

https://www.sainsburys.co.uk/shop/gb/gr ... arrel-70cl

Absolute bargain at that price.

I find it a bit boring TBH, Sainsburys have Bulleit at £22 and Woodford at £25 which would be my preference

Woodford I'd say is better, personally I'm not too bothered about Bullet. I'll happily drink it but wouldn't be my first choice in that price bracket.

Strange that, I earlier said the exact same thing on the facebook bourbon page about it.

Collected a bottle earlier and been disappointed. It's got the typical JD taste going on but at £25 I'd rather stick with Maker's Mark, Bulleit or Woodford.

I expected a £40 bottle of whiskey because that's how much it retails at usually, but for the same price Weller 12, Eagle Rare and Maker's 46 blow it out of the water.

Weller 12 and Eagle Rare certainly do (never had Maker's 46) and you can pick them up for £35 too.

I've only ever bought JD single barrel when it's on offer for £25, and for that price I think it's decent. Wouldn't pay £40.

Ive tried numerous JD whiskies and they all taste pretty much the same. You are better off just going for normal JD when its on offer if that floats your boat. But given you can get other better bourbons now regularly on offer at the big supermarkets you are better off going for something else

I went out to look at a car yesterday. After taking a look and having a chat the guy turned out to be a big fan of whisky too. He gave me some of his Old Forrester Birthday Blend, it was really really good, then another one and another one... then I had to get an uber home and now im waiting for uber to drop me back off there so I can drive to work....

A new Aldi opened near me. They had a very dodgy looking bottle of bourbon that is remarkedly similar to Jim Beam for £11 so I had to try it of course. And it tastes pretty much exactly the same i.e. awful! But their pink gin is rather nice and good value at £19 a bottle. You win some....

Has anyone tried that £13 bottle of whisky from Aldi? It's their own brand of whisky but experts and whisky lovers alike are wanking it off - I'm gonna get one to see what the fuss is about.

What happens too is that as soon as it gets publicity then loads of people head out to try it. You might have more luck in your local stores than I do!

I'm on day 8/10 of a mini-detox (no booze or junk food) before going to France on Thursday. So far so good, the only time that I really fancied a drink was on Friday night but I got through it.
