The ToonForum Whisky Club
Re: The ToonForum Whisky Club
Anyone have a whisky collection/thought about starting one?
I'm off the booze at the mo (3 and a half months dry so far) but I've invested in a fair few bottles.

I have a decent collection. About 50 or so bottles. Varies from stuff I drink a lot to a couple of expensive bottles. Nothing more than £500 though.
It's nice being able to drink what ever I feel like, it makes going to a bar for a drink a constant dissapointment though when I have much better at home....

I need to stock up for Xmas. Still got that bottle of 2015 (or 2016) William Larue Weller, paid £125 and when I checked earlier this year it was retailing at £700.
Stuff on the go is a Nikka from the barrel, Stagg Junior, Aberlour A’Bunadh. Finished a bottle of eagle rare not long ago so definitely need to pick up another.

Strong effort that like. I've started out on few 'distiller editions' and a couple of whiskies with batch numbers.Hjl wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2019 8:36 pmI have a decent collection. About 50 or so bottles. Varies from stuff I drink a lot to a couple of expensive bottles. Nothing more than £500 though.

Ha, I know what you mean - I judge a bar/pub on its top shelf and if there isn't at least a few good whiskies on offer I won't be there long.

I’m like that with beer, into my craft beers from the likes of Verdant, Northern Monk, Wylam etc and if I go into a pub and all they have is crap on tap I don’t even bother drinking or just go somewhere else.

It usually comes in pints, or two-thirds if it’s a hipster beer

I had a bottle of that a few years back. I paid £18 or something for it from Costco. Got a bottle of Laphroaig Quarter Cask on the go at the moment .Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2020 11:53 amI got Cardhu on offer in Waitrose for £25, cracking stuff.

Big fan of almost anything Laphroaig. I probably drink about 10 bottles of their 10 year old a year.biggeordiedave wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2020 8:33 amI had a bottle of that a few years back. Got a bottle of Tincup (Bourbon) from my dad for Chirstmas. Enjoying it very much as an an occasional easy going drink.
I've had a cold, so been delighting in a hot toddy.. but I have no 'cheap' whisky. Having to use proper stuff feels wrong...

Heard this on a podcast the other day so thought I'd share on here:
If you had to drink from only 5 distilleries for the rest of your life, what would they be?
For me:
-Glengoyne
-Balvenie
-Glenmorangie
-Glenlivet
-Ardbeg
