Got about £100 to spend on 2-3 new bottles. Split between bourbon and single malt (speyside).

Definitely getting an eagle rare as it’s one of my favourite bourbons but open to suggestions on others.

Looked at Old Forrester 1920 before but never had it so will take up that recommendation!

Had rare breed before (decent) and the single barrel - not heard of Russell’s Reserve so will have a look <ok>

None of them will blow your mind, but they are all solid 7-8/10

Just picked up another bottle of Jeffersons, which I love, also a bottle of American Eagle which i've never heard of but am giving a try.

Never heard of American Eagle. Let me know how it tastes.

It's that time of year when there are good whisky offers in the supermarkets.

Picked up a bottle of Woodford Reserve for £20 and a bottle of Cardhu Gold for £25 in Tesco. Good timing as almost out of the bottle of Sazerac Rye that I've been drinking.

Well, I did 15 days of Dry January before breaking. Had a few G&Ts at the weekend and some Woodford last night.

I think I'm just converting to 'beer free January' and focusing on spirits <cheers>

American Eagle was ok but nothing special. Downside for me was that I would rate it similar to Buffalo Trace or Bullitt in terms of quality, but it cost about the same as Woodford Reserve or Eagle Rare. So I am unlikely to buy it again as there are bourbons in that price range I much prefer. I probably would pick it up on special offer though, for the sake of variety.

Also just finished a bottle of 1792 Small Batch, which was really nice. Will be getting that again for sure.

That's the spirit! <coat>

To be fair that is my approach all year round. Spirits almost exclusively, hardly ever touch beer or wine.

Got a whisky tasting box for Christmas from a friend. It's got 6 different whisky's (5 x 25ml and 1 x 10ml). The box I got has:

The Lakes Distillery: The One (Sherry Cask Finish)
Tullibardine: 500 (Sherry Finish)
Glen Scotia: Sherry Double Cask aged 11 years
Douglas Liang: Rock Island Sherry Edition
Glasgow 1770: Peated Release No.1
Old Particular: Inchgower 21 year old sherry matured

It's from the Dram Team, think it's £30 a month if you sign up to their subscription. Most of the whisky's in that box are between £40-60 a pop, the Old Particular is about £120 so good to try a few different ones. You get tasting cards etc. with each drink, it's nice as a gift but I probably wouldn't spend £30 a month on it.

Currently up in bonnie wee Scotland ticking off a few distilleries. Had 3 nights in Isle of Skye and did Talisker... staying in Loch Lomond atm and just done Glengoyne which was mega, definitely my favourite one I've do so far. Got Aberfeldy tomorrow and the Lakes Distillery on Tuesday on the way back home :D
