Japan and Singapore now booked for next year.

10 days in Japan to take in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka and Fuji (theme park!!)

Then 3 days in Singapore and 2 days in Malaysia - quick ferry to one of the nearby islands for a beach break.
If you need recommendatioms for hawker markets in Singapore for specific dishes...hit me up.
Also black pepper crab > chilli crab any day.

Agree 100% about the crab! Tried chilli crab a few times there and it's vastly overrated.

Staying with my mate (free accomodation) and he's recently moved from Upper Thomson out towards the eastern end of Bishan so hoping to get to a few new hawker markets like Chomp Chomp.

Will be hitting up the central business district one again as it's brilliant.

Didn't make it to the Chinatown one last time as we opted for a meal in a restaurant but it's on my list.

Might head to Arab Street to eat this time rather than Little India.

murtubak is always a must for me (there's a decent one in Canary Wharf next to my office).

Our favourite dish is a Halal one that many Chinese Singaporeans don't know. It's called Tulang, its goat shank, slow cooked in spices. Served with bread you use to tap out the bone marrow. But our favourite old dude cooking it was at golden mile which might be getting refurbished Deen Tulang Specialist.

Me and my wife spent the night in Genoa as a midway point on our way to Nice from the Amalfi Coast in June a few years back.

We were expecting a quiet Port Town but it was the exact opposite! Felt like Mardi Gras. No idea if it's always like that or if we just happened to end up in the middle of a festival.

Our hotel was near the train station, but we ventured to the beach and port area where there was lots of nice bars. Certainly won't be difficult to find somewhere nice to eat and drink.

Was reminded today that I've 12 days of holiday to take before the end of March so I've booked off every Friday and now have three months of 4 day weeks!

Had queried about carrying some over into next year but after the COVID carry over they've put a stop to that. One colleague had 43 holiday days <laugh>

My old workplace used to pay us any leftover at the end of the year. During COVID I built up quite a backlog and it worked out that they owed me about 130 hours holiday pay. Worked out quite nicely as I was at uni when we realised, only working 9 hours a week and getting paid for 20 hours for 3 months!

Yeah, several times.

We were based in Arta last time which is a small traditional town on the east coast - really nice. It's not a massive Island so easy to explore the parts you want to see. If you haven't booked yet I'd also recommend Menorca, smaller island next door. Very relaxed and traditional.

I've been to both islands but preferred Menorca as it was quieter, relaxed and the locals were really nice.

Majorca still had that division between tourists and locals where eating and drinking in their places caused some issues.

Been a few times and suppose it depends on flooding for bars as several nice places down by the river.

Shambles wise is nice to wander and get a drink, a few nice bars behind the minster as well.

Last time I was there went for dinner near the castle or some back streets around it.

BrewYork, Pavement Vaults, clucking oinks, Spark, the whippet inn, rose and crown and minster inn. All good but very very different food places.

Pubwise rose and crown again, black swan, market cat , anywhere by the river is fun on a weeknight, eagle and child, fat badger.

You'll be spoiled for choice but try and book if you can on a weekend. <ok>

We're going Mon-Wed so should be okay getting in most places you'd think <ok>

Golden Fleece. Good ale and good food. There was also a fantastic pub/bar me and the missus went to which had a great fireplace which served excellent drink. But we were pissed by that point so can't remember what it's called.

Scotland.

Just come back from Edinburgh. I love Edinburgh. Proposed to my wife there and got married there.

But went to North Berwick for the first time on Saturday. Windy as f*** but it was lovely. The sun even peaked out for a bit.

At the end of the day it was just lovely to be by the sea side. A nice quiet sea side.

I do love Edinburgh though.

I recommend the Doric and The Copper Still.
