Brighton is just down the road from me.

Good pubs and food. Beach will be rubbish next week as its still cold. Nightlife at weekends is always good all year round.

The Lanes is worth a visit to wander around in the day.

Just up the train line is Lewes which is also nice and we'll worth an afternoon.
Should we get train there from London on Friday night, or wait until Saturday? I've heard misery stories about Southern Trains...
Head down to Brighton on the Gatwick Express but it costs a bit more as it's generally given the straight run.

Most trains after rush hour run OK though.

The missus has booked us a holiday for the summer.

A week in some s*** run down old slate mining town in the ass end of f***ing Northern Wales.

Had a look at the pubs and restaurants in the area and it's like the bloody 80s has just arrived.

f***ing livid.

Cooking in Lyon for a few days and then chilling out on the Cote d'Azur for 5 days is now obsolete.

Plenty of women <awe>

As for nightlife, they have a Folie Deuce, which if you are into that sort of thing is a great place to start Apres Ski, then ski down the mountain drunk and carry on at the bars at the bottom. There are plenty of places that carry on until early morning so you'll have a choice. Also whilst I was there they had a minifestival thing with some decent DJs. Drinks are, as in most ski villages, very expensive though.

Any cheapish city break recommendations?

Done the classic ones like Amsterdam, Bruges, Barcelona, Paris etc.

2/3 nights in April time. Open to anything. Hit me.

Porto is nice. Easily see it all in a day and a bit and then fit in some port tasting and an afternoon at the beach.

Oh yeah <laugh>

To be fair my flights and hotel were pretty reasonable when I went. Food wasn't bad but the price of alcohol was extortionate, so I guess that does rule it out. <whistle>

Went to Brighton this weekend. Very cold.

Bit of an odd vibe as everyone staying inside in the cold. Brighton feels like if you got Blackpool, dressed everyone as a hippie and spend lots of money restoring buildings to their former glory
