Going to the toilet in lesson time.

Post by Missjem » Thu Jan 18, 2018 8:24 am

I am a primary school teacher (year 6). I never let children visit the toilet in lesson time. Would this rule bother you as a parent?

Surely you're not allowed to refuse a child's request to use the toilet? I'd certainly be unhappy if I had a child and this was the case. So long as they're not taking the piss ( <roll> ) and asking to go 3 or 4 times a lesson then they should absolutely be allowed.

And welcome to TF <laugh>

I'm guessing the "Pant Shitters Anonymous" club has something to do with this.

I think by year 6 kids should be able to know before class if they need the loo (unless unwell).

Maybe a hard rule is harsh, but how can u refuse the worky tickets if you allow the nice kids occasionally.

Assuming your going to clear their pants when they piss themselves i dont see a problem. Do you do a pick up or a delivery laundry service?

Yes teachers are allowed to refuse. Providing they don't have a medical condition or have had no breaks.

Lessons are never more than a couple of hours, these children are 10 and 11 and should be able to wait.

I suppose it comes down to humiliating the child. If you refused to let a kid take a bathroom break and they wet themselves or worse then the teacher is in for a world of hurt. As a parent id be furious that you put my child in that position. At that age they would be ridiculed by their peers and it would probably last for a long time. If that happened then we would have a serious chat with the headmaster and id probably seek damages from the school.

Just my view as a parent.

Year 6 children are also pretty young still, just because a lesson is only an hour or two doesn't mean that they'd have had the foresight to go to the toilet before the lesson, or even to think that they might need a piss within the next hour or so even if they don't right at that second. Sounds stupid, but if I know I'll be on a bus for an hour I'll go to the toilet at the bus station even if I don't really need to go right then (can always squeeze a bit out) but when I was a kid I'd never have bothered.

First off, wtf!

Secondly has a kid s*** in class and now you need some favourable opinions to back you up ? <laugh>

Thirdly... Miss? <perv>

On a serious note when I was a kid lesson time was the only time I would consider going to the toilet based on the fact the door would be getting kicked in the moment you tried to curl out a turd during breaks, hell you couldn't even piss in peace at my school, one kid was so scared of using the toilets they actually s*** themselves on the staircase and the turd rolled out the bottom of their trousers causing that half of the school to go on lockdown. So it's not always a case of being responsible with your toilet breaks some are just fully borne out of fear of being caught shitting by your peers.

Damn.

My old school you'd have a member of staff escort you to the toilet and ask if your passing/movement was good.

I thought that was weird!

This really is a weird topic for this forum!

I can understand the need to discourage the kids from taking toilet breaks during lesson time, but ultimately if he/she has to go they have to go.

Personally as a kid I was sent to the Headmaster to be caned for walking out of class without permission (and against the orders of the teacher) because I was dying for a piss. But luckily he let me off when I told him that any punishment he could give me wouldn't be as bad as pissing myself in front of my classmates.

The teacher did give me the "slipper" though when I returned to the class. Which meant holding your hand out, face down, whilst he smashed the rubber sole of a gym plimsole down on it. Evil f***er would consider it a failed punishment if at least one knuckle wasn't bleeding or bruised as a result.

Primary school education was so liberal in the '70s.
