They range from an hour to 2 hours. It is not unreasonable to expect an 11 year old to go a couple of hours without a toilet.

I can understand the need to discourage the kids from taking toilet breaks during lesson time, but ultimately if he/she has to go they have to go.

Personally as a kid I was sent to the Headmaster to be caned for walking out of class without permission (and against the orders of the teacher) because I was dying for a piss. But luckily he let me off when I told him that any punishment he could give me wouldn't be as bad as pissing myself in front of my classmates.

The teacher did give me the "slipper" though when I returned to the class. Which meant holding your hand out, face down, whilst he smashed the rubber sole of a gym plimsole down on it. Evil f***er would consider it a failed punishment if at least one knuckle wasn't bleeding or bruised as a result.

Primary school education was so liberal in the '70s.
Crazy to think responsible adults would routinely beat small children for minor indiscretions as recently as that <erk>.

One of the mums came in as she was angry as I made her daughter wait for the afternoon and the girl was on her period.

Right so now you are just taking the piss (Pun intended).
What a bizarre way to conduct yourself.
