Surely they'd go for Potter again? They tried get him in when they sacked Rodgers I seem to recall. At the time he'd only just been sacked by Chelsea himself, and didn't want to get straight back in - which is understandable.

Still pretty s*** that these guys are seemingly getting jobs off of their names alone, although admittedly don't know much about RVNs career path since hanging up the boots.

Think he had a brief stint at Feyenoord which was okay but not spectacular. Beyond that though trading on his name, and I agree with your point. Leicester should be going all out for Potter you'd have thought, unless he completely doesn't want it.Don Sholeone wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 12:01 pmStill pretty s*** that these guys are seemingly getting jobs off of their names alone, although admittedly don't know much about RVNs career path since hanging up the boots.

Honestly think it's a gamble for both. Leicester will struggle regardless, so they've gone for a completely unproven manager for the job they need and he could kill his reputation before he has one. Interesting I suppose.

Moyes would have been good for Leicester. Unspectacular but would have them organised and probably a decent chance of staying up.

Re: The Managerial Merry-Go-Round Thread
Yeah, you'd think Moyes would get a prem job at some point this season. He may be the last of the dinosaurs, but there's still enough left in his tank at that lower level.
I think Lampard could be a good appointment for Coventry. They haven't just brought the first name in (like Leicester are seemingly about to..) there was some diligence in appointing a manager, three weeks to sort it rather than a few days. Lampard is obviously keen to get back in the saddle, and for whatever reason they see him as a good fit. I think there's still a lot of his relatively young managerial career to be seen. His biggest successes as a manager really were at Derby, and bringing young players through - especially at Chelsea (during the transfer ban). Whilst I've said before and continue to agree that being a big name as a player shouldn't entitle managers to walk into jobs, it does however open doors and he will have connections in the football world that will help Coventry. Like it did with Derby getting the likes of Tomori, Abraham in on loan etc. Will be an interesting one to watch over the season.

Surprised it didn’t happen after West Ham.

Yes, but it's not as if he needed or even deserved a pay off!
