And then the merger of the two Chelsea companies in readiness to their setting up a new holding company and then repating the process all over again.Don Sholeone wrote: ↑Tue Apr 01, 2025 7:54 pmStill got Chelsea Clinton and the Chelsea flower show to go too. Bastards.

Re: Football Titbits
Salah has signed a new two year deal with Liverpool. I feel this may have a small effect on us, as it would likely mean they are less likely to prioritise a RW this summer window. They still need succession planning there, but now less urgent. Strong indications we would've been fishing in the same pond (Mbeumo)

I thought the same! More likely to go for someone good with potential rather than ready madeValentino's fast feet wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 9:16 amSalah has signed a new two year deal with Liverpool. Re: Football Titbits
Not surprising with Chelsea pushing players to sign contracts on their unique terms that agents are then pushing to get a bigger cut in it all.bodacious benny wrote: ↑Mon Apr 14, 2025 4:58 pmhttps://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/ar ... 0575zx8l5o

I'm probably missing something here or not fully understanding how agents work but how are we the 5th biggest spenders when we hardly signed anyone in the windows covered by the period in question?bodacious benny wrote: ↑Mon Apr 14, 2025 4:58 pmhttps://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/ar ... 0575zx8l5o

Re: Football Titbits
New contracts with existing players I'd assume, and free agent signings. And I bet agents look for even more money for free agents knowing the clubs saved on transfer fees. It's why Jonathan David ('s agent) has been holding out for the past couple years.UlversToon wrote: ↑Mon Apr 14, 2025 7:19 pmI'm probably missing something here or not fully understanding how agents work but how are we the 5th biggest spenders when we hardly signed anyone in the windows covered by the period in question?bodacious benny wrote: ↑Mon Apr 14, 2025 4:58 pmhttps://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/ar ... 0575zx8l5o

No wonder so many players have family members as their agents.Remember Colo wrote: ↑Mon Apr 14, 2025 8:27 pmNew contracts with existing players I'd assume, and free agent signings. Yeah, it shouldn't be allowed IMO as it's a complete conflict of interests. I mean great for the family, but very shady.UlversToon wrote: ↑Mon Apr 14, 2025 9:02 pmNo wonder so many players have family members as their agents.Remember Colo wrote: ↑Mon Apr 14, 2025 8:27 pm

Re: Football Titbits
I disagree. Family members are more likely to want whats best for the player and his career as opposed to career agents who are just after as much money as possible often at the expense of the best interests of the player.bodacious benny wrote: ↑Tue Apr 15, 2025 9:50 amYeah, it shouldn't be allowed IMO as it's a complete conflict of interests. Re: Football Titbits
My view is that it's just a way of players shovelling money out of the club into their families pockets, many of whom will just want a lot of money for doing nothing in particular. How often will a family member be suitably qualified to negotiation multi-million pound contracts and all everything that comes with them?TJR wrote: ↑Tue Apr 15, 2025 1:10 pmI disagree. I don't disagree that agents are greedy, but who's to say your brother Dave has any ability to negotiate the best possible deal for you?

Re: Football Titbits
Their risk to take of course. We can blame the players and agents all we want, but it's football club owners/front office staff who have given up their leverage over the years, paying whatever it takes to get the talent they want. Which isn't to say I want more money kept in the hands of billionaire owners - it just surprises me these businessmen so often ignore everything they apply in their regular business lives.bodacious benny wrote: ↑Tue Apr 15, 2025 1:20 pmMy view is that it's just a way of players shovelling money out of the club into their families pockets, many of whom will just want a lot of money for doing nothing in particular. Re: Football Titbits
You have to have a license to be an agent in certain countries mostly the EU ones AFAIK
You have to do business or an economics degree to obtain it too.
So not every Joe Soap can be one..
If a player is under 18 a family member can represent them
