Salah has signed a new two year deal with Liverpool. I feel this may have a small effect on us, as it would likely mean they are less likely to prioritise a RW this summer window. Not surprising with Chelsea pushing players to sign contracts on their unique terms that agents are then pushing to get a bigger cut in it all.

I'm probably missing something here or not fully understanding how agents work but how are we the 5th biggest spenders when we hardly signed anyone in the windows covered by the period in question?

New contracts with existing players I'd assume, and free agent signings. And I bet agents look for even more money for free agents knowing the clubs saved on transfer fees. It's why Jonathan David ('s agent) has been holding out for the past couple years.

Yeah, it shouldn't be allowed IMO as it's a complete conflict of interests. I mean great for the family, but very shady.

I disagree. Family members are more likely to want whats best for the player and his career as opposed to career agents who are just after as much money as possible often at the expense of the best interests of the player.

My view is that it's just a way of players shovelling money out of the club into their families pockets, many of whom will just want a lot of money for doing nothing in particular. How often will a family member be suitably qualified to negotiation multi-million pound contracts and all everything that comes with them?

I don't disagree that agents are greedy, but who's to say your brother Dave has any ability to negotiate the best possible deal for you?

Their risk to take of course. We can blame the players and agents all we want, but it's football club owners/front office staff who have given up their leverage over the years, paying whatever it takes to get the talent they want. Which isn't to say I want more money kept in the hands of billionaire owners - it just surprises me these businessmen so often ignore everything they apply in their regular business lives.

You have to have a license to be an agent in certain countries mostly the EU ones AFAIK

You have to do business or an economics degree to obtain it too.

So not every Joe Soap can be one..

If a player is under 18 a family member can represent them
