I suppose we have nothing to lose in signing him until the rest of the season but it doesn't sound like he's played for almost a year... Wilson would probably be nearing his return by the time reaches match fitness.

If Schar is out for the season we'd probably be given special dispensation to replace him in the 25 man squad.

There is a deadline to register free agents by which is first week of March, but again it depends on the PL giving us permission to replace a player.

If he was fit and ready to play then he would be the perfect replacement for Wilson. But those are two huge IF's, I highly doubt he could get up to speed in time to make a significant difference.

I mean if it's allowed then signing someone is pretty much a no brainer. Whether it's Sturridge, another striker or a CB I don't know but would like to see it investigated. Schar and probably Manquillo won't be seen this season.

This. An in-form Sturridge is still dangerous.. his movement, finishing & pace is very good but obvious problem is fitness/injuries.. last time at West Brom he struggled with his fitness & didn't score.. in Turkey he did show flashes of brilliance until he got released. If he's fit then it's worth a punt.. if not then we should look elsewhere or stick with what we have now.

The one thing I'll point out in regards to passing any dispensation review, while there is no limit to how many players in a certain position you can register (Bar Keepers which you have to have at least 2) i.e. You can registers 23 centre backs if you want. The amount of cover we have in the team would be looked at in comparison to the player you are looking to replace.
e.g. If we are replacing a CB in Schar with Sturridge or another striker having both Joelinton and Gayle and the likes of Saint Max, Fraser and Almiron all capable of playing there would most likely have to be a good argument.

Also the review is more done in positional pods rather then individual positions

i.e Goalkeepers, Defensive , Attacking

In fact I'd say bar goalkeeper would be the only position on the field that you'd most likely get dispensation for as baring a horrible injury crisis you'd have adequate cover in all those areas.

Newcastle have now completed the free transfer signing of England U18 left back Matthew Bondswell, who joins the club's U23 squad.

The 18 year old (he's 19 in April) was born in Nottingham and began his playing career at Forest's Academy.

However, he left the City Ground after eight years in 2018 after agreeing a professional contract with Bundesliga side Red Bull Leipzig.

Playing for their U17 and U19 sides, a first taste of senior professional football came at the start of the current season when loaned out to Dutch second tier club FC Dordrecht until January of this year.

Linked with moves to both West Ham and Leeds United during the last transfer window, Bondswell was available as a free agent and agreed a deal of unspecified duration at Gallowgate.

Kristoffer Ajer & Morten Thorsby be one of them? Patrick Berg? Mohamed Elyounoussi's had a very good season at Celtic.

I'll take any of them.. Sander Berg from Shefield United is a decent box-to-box too.

Nope, he plans to go back to Madrid after his loan with Arsenal finishes.
