New 2 year contract for Clark, been an excellent signing.

Yeah. He's got a touch of the Mike Williamson (in a good way) about him, in the way that I musjudged. Unheralded and at first I thought a clogger, but really just a solid defender. Not great on the ball but not terrible.Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 5:23 pmNew 2 year contract for Clark, been an excellent signing.

I was a bit dubious when we signed him too but he’s been a solid 7/10 player most games and seems like a top pro too. Even when out of the team he keeps his head down and gets on with it.Colback's Orange Tufts wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 7:39 amYeah. I think that's really harsh on him, we've got 3 really good ball playing defenders (Lejeune, Fernandez and Schar) and he's maybe not at their level, but he's very comfortable on the ball and can carry it forward better than half of our midfield options.Colback's Orange Tufts wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 7:39 amYeah. I wouldn't say Fernandez is a good ball playing defender, he's on a similar level to Clark. Lejeune and Schar are very good ball playing defenders, Fernandez is comfortable on the ball, Clark is comfortable but makes mistakes under pressure, Dummett needs space to do anything with the ball, Lascelles treats the ball like a bomb.Colly wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 10:57 amI think that's really harsh on him, we've got 3 really good ball playing defenders (Lejeune, Fernandez and Schar) and he's maybe not at their level, but he's very comfortable on the ball and can carry it forward better than half of our midfield options.Colback's Orange Tufts wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 7:39 am

Steve Bruce giving 3 days off a week too.
Anyone seen the Ritchie De Laet interview. Bruce's training sessions. Apparently he just drops a ball down and says 'let's play'.

I heard on a podcast that apparently Lord Bendtner really got on with Bruce, that could explain it...

Probably gets Lascelles to dish the bibs out, throws them a ball and disappears back inside.Captain Obvious wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 11:40 amSteve Bruce giving 3 days off a week too.

You think? He's decent but I wouldn't say he was great on the ball like Schar or Lejeune.Colly wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 10:57 amI think that's really harsh on him, we've got 3 really good ball playing defenders (Lejeune, Fernandez and Schar) and he's maybe not at their level, but he's very comfortable on the ball and can carry it forward better than half of our midfield options.Colback's Orange Tufts wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 7:39 am

So we're three weeks into this window, in 15th place with the worst form in the league, and yet it doesn't feel like there's been a single strongly linked transfer or even loan yet...

Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (January 2021)
Brandon Williams and Hamza Choudourey have been linked (both loans) fairly heavily all month. Neither seem keen to come here, or rather the clubs don't seem keen to let them go out on loan. Both are linked to plenty of other places as well. And finally, neither are really what we need right now. We need more experience at left back and a more creative midfield option than Choudourey. Based on that, looks like we'll put all our eggs into the wrong baskets, and still end up with nothing. I'm hopeful something will happen with Jetro Willems, but he might not be the same player any more.

Who even makes our recruitment and scouting decisions these days? Like Charnley has to sign cheques, but who is in charge of identifying targets?

And then one player's mam takes them home to wash every weekend. A different mam each week, on a rota.ALF wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 11:54 amProbably gets Lascelles to dish the bibs out, throws them a ball and disappears back inside.Captain Obvious wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 11:40 amSteve Bruce giving 3 days off a week too.

Links to Nick Powell, supposedly made an enquiry. Having a decent season at Stoke from the sounds if it, attack minded midfielder that does play up front from time to time. Very highly rated when he was young, 26 and never really lived up to the hype. It's the right type of player we need, at least.

Pretty sure Matty Longstaff could play that attacking mid role for us instead if Bruce ever decided to play him.CIH wrote: ↑Tue Jan 26, 2021 2:41 pmLinks to Nick Powell, supposedly made an enquiry.
