Given Willock doesn't cost us a squad space you'd really like to think they're confident of getting someone else in (Choudhury) or else why not keep Yedlin till the summer. Probably better than Krath and brining Atsu into the fold seems fairly pointless.

Choudhury seems the likely one. Although seems to be a bit of a stalemate between the three clubs us/Leicester/Watford with regards to Choudhury/Chalobah/MLongstaff. Maitland-Niles has gone as an option, and there doesn't seem to be any talk about Ntcham or that danish lad who's name I forget, and Gueye was clearly a non-starter. Whether there was any serious in any of them three I've no idea.

Matt Ritchie staying put, apparently we rejected the bid for him. I like him as a player and clearly he's a good influence on the squad as a whole, but he is 31 and and at best a second-choice... I do worry we're going to reject those long contracts for him and Shelvey. Sounds like we've only got a chance of getting someone in if Yedlin is confirmed to be away.

New contracts for Ritchie and Shelvey really was terrible business.

I mean, apprently Ritchie was wanted now, and as for Shelvey, he seems like the kind of player that might scout okay, and puts up some okay stats, but if you watch every minute every week you come to hate him. I believe we could offload either if and when wanted.

One of those things when a top level club comes in I suppose. But if that is true, especially considering we need to ship one in one out for registration rules, why are we looking at a 20 year old centreback on loan? It's hardly a priority.

Especially since we have Lejeune out on loan as well, doesn't make a whole deal of sense. BBC Sport have Willock on loan confirmed as of 18.50, but doesn't seem to be any official confirmation from any club as of yet.

Given we've let one go from the 25 man squad in Yedlin and not brought in one to replace him who do people think will be the most likely to take the slot

Atsu or Saivet?

As much as it would most likely be Atsu given he's been part of squads last year. I wouldn't be surprised if Saivet was given a chance given we wanted to add another CM
