Match Day - Crystal Palace v Newcastle
Match Day - Crystal Palace v Newcastle
The exciting clash that the world has been waiting for, Hodgson v Bruce.
From nufc.com:
Newcastle return to action on Friday, when they face Roy Hodgson's Eagles in an 8pm KO at Selhurst Park.
The game will be shown via the Amazon Prime subscription service.
NUFC: Speaking to the media on Thursday, Steve Bruce confirmed that Callum Wilson, Jonjo Shelvey and Matt Ritchie would all be available for Friday.
However Martin Dubravka, Paul Dummett and Ryan Fraser are all still out and Andy Carroll is now missing with a calf strain.
There's a doubt over Jamaal Lascelles, substituted at the start of the second half last weekend due to injury.
Bruce also stated that "two or three individuals are self-isolating" - which is a reference to either players or staff; Steve Agnew noted as not being among the coaches at the Chelsea game.
The Manager also admitted that one of the players affected would most probably have started against Palace.
Squad photographs from Darsley Park on Wednesday showed Dwight Gayle training but it's unclear whether the striker will be involved against his old club.
CPFC: Wilfried Zaha won't play as he's still self-isolating, while Luka Milivojevic is serving the last part of a three match suspension following his red card.
Out due to injury are Nathan Ferguson, Wayne Hennessey and Connor Whickham.
Former Magpies Andros Townsend and Patrick van Aanholt are both expected to feature.
On home ground this season so far, Roy Hodgson's side have beaten Southampton and Leeds, drawn with Brighton and lost to Everton.
Referee: Graham Scott - first outing of the season involving us for the whistler from Oxfordshire, whose most recent appointment was for our 1-0 victory at Southampton pre-lockdown.
VAR: Jared Gillett

Can't wait for this, turgid 1-0 to Palace where they dominate possession and PVA scores the winner.

I wonder who will come in for Maxi. He's been s*** lately tbf. Longstaff should keep his place, only decent oufield player from our last match. I have a feeling Shelvey will play.

The Bruce tactic tonight will be to play the big units.
It'll be dire and we'll lose.

Newcastle United. Average possession during 2020-21: 38.49. The second lowest in the Premier League.

Re: Match Day - Crystal Palace v Newcastle
So Isaac Hayden has Covid. Hopefully Longstaff is no.10 in a 4-2-3-1. That said - Hendrick and Shelvey in CM are about as safe as a covid outbreak in a nursing home...
I had the first custom w***
