Get in!!! Came into this one just hoping not to suffer a humiliating thrashing so absolutely delighted with that point. Decent performance as well.

That wasn't as awful as it could have been - we had a couple of chances at least. Credit Darlow - I hope he doesn't get immediately binned off for Dubravka as his form this year deserves a few more games at the very least.
There is no sin except stupidity.

Plaudits.
Take it !!
Workmanlike and defensive Toon hold misfiring Liverpool.
We were honest and lucky, endeavour earned a point. Move on

We deserved that, looked more organised and worked hard. Yes they dominated possession but we weren’t completely submissive and had a couple of good chances.
Darlow was excellent again (no way back in for Dubravka right now), Schar and Fernandez made some excellent clearances, Matty Longstaff gave us a lot of energy and Wilson worked very hard upfront.
I was expecting no points from Man C, Liverpool and Leicester so that’s a bonus point. Solid team effort.

Re: Match Thread: Newcastle v Liverpool
Thought Matty Longstaff, Fabian Schär, and DeAndre Yedlin were excellent tonight. What do they have in common? None of them could get a look in before covid struck out squad... Darlow, Fernandez and Wilson also very good, thought MOTM could be any of those five.
I had the first custom w***
Re: Match Thread: Newcastle v Liverpool
That was actually watchable. We set up with proper wingbacks going forward so their fullbacks actually had to defend and we didn't just have to absorb wave after wave of attacks. Rode our luck at times, but to be expected against that side.
Just imagine if Joe had scored that volley.

I'll take that. 0-0 but one of the best games we've played in a while.

Not his biggest fan but Matty was great today, Joelinton was decent, Wilson worked his arse off, Yedlin had his best game in a while, overall a good point but think we could have easily snatched 3 points with a bit of luck
Re: Match Thread: Newcastle v Liverpool
So far as I am concerned, his performances for the most part have earned him that spot now. Dubravka has obviously been huge for us in the past, but Darlow has took his chance during this long absence, and he deserves to keep his place. Obviously if his form suffers when Dubravka is fit again, that's a different conversation. Good problem to have. Fair play to Darlow. Odd point, but I feel like his hair i sless stlyed these days.Crouching Shola Hidden Talent wrote: ↑Wed Dec 30, 2020 9:54 pmThat wasn't as awful as it could have been - we had a couple of chances at least. You’d think that Dubravka gets the fa cup match but Darlow remains our PL keeper.
Against Spurs we got a very lucky and undeserved point, tonight’s point was totally deserved.

Re: Match Thread: Newcastle v Liverpool
Well that exceeded my expectations! The point is great but the way we played was even more pleasing. More please.originallad wrote: ↑Wed Dec 30, 2020 6:08 pmNo injuries or suspensions and somehow only lose by one goal is the best we can hope for. Can't see anything but a loss. To play better than we have done recently with more attacking threat would be an added bonus but I'm probably asking for too much there.

Darlow has got better and better. Without him and Wilson's goals, i dread to think how many points we'd have right now. There's no question that he should keep his place.
Re: Match Thread: Newcastle v Liverpool
Cant believe it tbh, actually played relatively well and got a point. there were a few big performances out there today, dont think anyone's mentioned Schar and his goal line heroics yet

"Undoubtedly they rode their luck and there may have been few opportunities for TV watchers to smack their lass with a Christmas tree in celebration of a winner, but for once this was worth tuning in for."
Wtf?

Pretty stupid comment even if it was meant to be tongue in cheek, considering they’re a high profile fan site.originallad wrote: ↑Wed Dec 30, 2020 11:19 pmFrom Nufc.com
