Match day thread -Everton v NUFC
Everton (a)
United are back on the road this Saturday, facing Carlo Ancelotti's side at Goodison Park in the Premier League.
It's a 12.30pm start, live on BT Sport and if you're looking for omens this is the first time we've visited Everton on a Saturday since 2010 - on the occasion of our most recent success there (1-0, Ben Arfa).
Unless they can collect three points from the Toffees though, United's winless run in all competitions will extend to 12 games - their longest run without a victory in a single season since 1977/78.
The Magpies go into this game without an away PL goal in the last 385 minutes (505 minutes in all competitions).
That's still some way off the 522 minute PL barren scoring run on the road we endured between February and May 2015.
NUFC: Federico Fernandez remains out after missing the last three games, but both Ciaran Clark and Paul Dummett were seen in training on Thursday.
The work permit issue affecting DeAndre Yedlin has been resolved and he's back in the squad.
EFC: Abdoulaye Doucoure is available following his suspension, but Allan, Fabian Delph and Jean-Philippe Gbamin remain sidelined with fitness issues.
The Toffees have won four at home in the Premier League this season (West Brom, Brighton, Chelsea and Arsenal), drawn two (Liverpool and Leicester) and lost three (Manchester United, Leeds United and West Ham United).
Referee: Stuart Attwell - amazingly, we're looking to extend a 100% success record in games that the Warwickshire whistler has handled to five.
Attwell took charge of this season's 2-0 win at West Ham on opening weekend, followed by the 2-1 home success over Everton - having handled victories at West Ham and Sheffield United last season.

Re: Match day thread -Everton v NUFC
Hope not.
Darlow
Manquillo Lascelles Schar Lewis
Hayden Shelvey*
Fraser Miggy ASM
Wilson
*Who else? Sean Longstaff hasn't even been named in the last couple match day squads could be due to injury / loss of form.. M.Longstaff would be my preferred option but unlikely Bruce will start him.. Hendrick doesn't really add anything to midfield so leave him on the bench.. maybe go for a calculated risk and put Anderson in with Hayden? Would show attacking intent & bravery from Bruce but I'll bet any money he won't.
A draw would be great but I don't see how.. Everton will overwhelm us, we might nick a goal though.. 3-1 to them. Rodriguez & DCL running the show.

Back 5 with Hayden again, Shelvey and Hendrick in midfield - wtf has M Longstaff done to be bombed out of the team again in favour of that pair?

Re: Match day thread -Everton v NUFC
We could have prime Xavi and Xabi Alonso in the squad and they wouldnt get a sniff under Bruce.
Re: Match day thread -Everton v NUFC
Agreed.. didn't we learn our lesson about this formation & line-up against Leeds (1st half) & Shefield United.. Fraser up top with Wilson doesn't work & a midfield of Hendrick - Shelvey is too lightweight, slow & we will get over-run in midfield with Doucoure / Siggy / Rodriguez having a field day.. WHY IS HAYDEN in a back three again????? Too many questions again.. If we lose here & don't get a win against Palace.. Bruce needs to go. Enough is enough. #BruceOutBodacious Benny wrote: ↑Sat Jan 30, 2021 11:32 am

Might work if it's a 3-4-3 were Miggy & Fraser our pushing up to there full-backs allowing Lewis & Manquillo to support them ... but it's going to be a negative 5-4-1 / 5-3-2 again..

s*** selection. Another loss incoming.
Bruce out.
Bruce out.
Re: Match day thread -Everton v NUFC
We don't know that Hayden is in defense though, it might be a midfield 3, or worse Jeff on the wing in a 4 4 2. Our problem as always is centre mid, if they were any good you could get a decent 4 3 3/4 2 3 1 out of this bunch.

Or 4-2-3-1 with Hendrick on the right.. Miggy in the middle? Hayden & Shelvey CM's.. Fraser on the left.. Wilson up top I'll love to think that but just knowing Bruce & his tactical ineptness I'm sure it'll be a 4-5-1 or 5-3-2.. I'll be pleasantly surprised if it's a 4-2-3-1 / 4-3-3 / 3-4-3

Hes mentioned before Lewis, he's in a back 3. They always read left to right (right side of the pitch to left) descending through gk>Def>mid>atk in a classic formation layout, so
