Re: New Kit 21/22
Just listening to the latest true faith Newcastle podcast.
Suspected links between castore and Sports Direct (Castore got the Rangers kit deal last season and the first people to stock the kit (at a reduced rate..) were Sports Direct who undercut the club shop meaning Ashley gets more or the money). Also, Rangers fans had lots of problems with the quality of shirts, stitching coming away etc. and as Castore were/are a small new company was hard to get problems sorted.
That’s where I’m up to at the moment…

Re: New Kit 21/22
I mean, it's not surprising that as a big retailer and owned by Ashley that he probably ensured SD got the first product from Castore, but I don't think that necessarily means they're in bed with him. He just has a lot of leverage in our product distribution.Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Fri Jul 16, 2021 11:50 amJust listening to the latest true faith Newcastle podcast.

It’s an interesting listen if you get a chance.

Re: New Kit 21/22
A lot nicer than the home kit. Weird that in the promo images they've given it a blue tint when in the product images the base colour is clearly a mid-grey.

Re: New Kit 21/22
I thought similar, and I actually prefer with the blue tint. I don’t hate it. It’s giving me Joy Division vibes.
Re: New Kit 21/22
Yeah if the Joy Division bit is coincidence it's scarily so. I quite like it, but I'm not the biggest fan of a black kit, never really see the point. Might get it cheap at the end of the season.
Re: New Kit 21/22
At first I thought it would be one of those kits that is never used because if the home kit clashed, presumably a grey/black kit would clash too, but looking through https://www.premierleague.com/news/2143113 I don't see any clashes with home kits, and there are a few uses for it where the home kit would clash (Leeds & Tottenham, potentially Brentford, Brighton and Southampton to avoid white stripes).
Re: New Kit 21/22
I believe there’s much more consideration to colourblind spectators which might explain the variety in colours and kit styles …Teams may now play in an away kit even if their home kit wouldn’t typically clash with the opposition’s (Spain playing in white vs Italy at Euro 2020).Cal wrote: ↑Fri Jul 30, 2021 11:01 amAt first I thought it would be one of those kits that is never used because if the home kit clashed, presumably a grey/black kit would clash too, but looking through https://www.premierleague.com/news/2143113 I don't see any clashes with home kits, and there are a few uses for it where the home kit would clash (Leeds & Tottenham, potentially Brentford, Brighton and Southampton to avoid white stripes).
Although the cynic in me thinks this is simply a ploy to promote and sell more kits.

Re: New Kit 21/22
Also thought it navy in the social media promo photos, but I'm absolutely fine with another black and gold one - which have been some of the finest of the past decade. And as others have said, no other team in the league barring Watford wear a black home kit (I didn't give that much thought, so maybe i'm forgetting some), so it's actually a pretty effective away colour, especially since unlike most other clubs who use it for away kits, it is our colour.

Re: New Kit 21/22
Yeah, saw the banner name on Valencia's the other day and thought it looked pretty awful. Guess I shouldn't be surprised that it's a template they're rolling out across their clubs. Awful stuff. With all of the other clubs I like having recently changed to Puma, I'm glad they're in our rear view mirror.

The absolute gall of posting them all together like that, not even pretending to put any thought into it just a conveyor belt lacking in creativity to vaccuum up cash as quickly as they can.
