Match day thread - NUFC v WHU
West Ham (h)
Saturday sees Newcastle host The Hammers in a 12.30pm kick-off at SJP, shown live on Sky Sports.
Following a 2-0 success at The London Stadium in September, The Magpies have the opportunity of registering a third PL win double this season, having taken six points off Everton and Burnley.
And after victory at Turf Moor, Steve Bruce's side have the opportunity of posting successive wins for the first time in 2021.
Newcastle are unbeaten at home in their last four outings - although winning just one of those, against Southampton in February. Since then, they've drawn with Wolves, Villa and Spurs, coming from behind to claim a point in the closing stages of the latter two games.
The Magpies have never drawn four successive Premier League home games.

Coral price a home victory at 13/5, with the draw coming in at 5/2. A Hammers success is rated at 21/20.
NUFC: Jamaal Lascelles, Isaac Hayden and Fabian Schar remain out while Ryan Fraser is doubtful. Training session photos from this week include Schar but not Fraser.
WHUFC: Declan Rice and Michail Antonio are both injured, while news is awaited on the availability of Aaron Cresswell, Angelo Ogbonna, Manuel Lanzini, Darren Randolph and Andriy Yarmolenko.
In 2021 the Hammers have won at Everton, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Wolves, drawing at Fulham. Their two away losses were in Manchester.
Manchester United loanee Jesse Lingard has scored eight times in nine starts for West Ham since arriving in January - including one or more in each of the last four games.
Four previous career appearances against Newcastle for the Red Devils brought him one goal (at Gallowgate in 2016).
Referee: Kevin Friend - only the second time in the middle for a game involving Newcastle this season, following on from the 0-3 home defeat by Brighton.
VAR: Simon Hooper

With them missing 2 or 3 key players I think we can get something out of this...score draw.

Re: Match day thread - NUFC v WHU
Jesse Lingard is going to dick on our defence Zero pace without Lascelles unfortunately. And West Ham are very mobile with Bowen, Lingard and whoever else they have up front.
I had the first custom w***

I don't want to start them if they're not ready, but if our plan is to introduce ASM and Wilson for the last 30 mins, we'll be 3 nil down before then.

This. Lawro predicted a 2-0 win for us too.originallad wrote: ↑Fri Apr 16, 2021 12:22 pmI don't want to start them if they're not ready, but if our plan is to introduce ASM and Wilson for the last 30 mins, we'll be 3 nil down before then.
They play like a team & have some quality players like Coufal, Rice, Soucek & the obvious threat of Lingard upfront with the physically strong & athletic Antonio & Bowen's finishing & mobility. Fornales / Benramia aren't bad either are they..
If ASM & Wilson are not 100% I think we should still start them & take them off by the hour mark/70th min if there gassing, it'll be worth the risk & gamble even if they get injured again & we go on to win as that will practically grantee our safety if we can get another three points . I'll like too see the same line-up as last week but maybe have Manquillo/Lewis instead of Ritchie to give us some pace & direct running down the left-hand side & to cover the threat of Lingard/Bowen's pace & movement.

Re: Match day thread - NUFC v WHU
Of our next 5 games, this is the one (or maybe Arsenal) that we’re most likely to get something from so I’d take a punt. ASM has had 2 appearances off the bench and presumably full training for a few weeks so he comes in, Wilson only came back last week so maybe it’s more 50/50 with him but he seemed fine.

This. I don't see us getting nothing against Man City, Leicester & Liverpool. If even we got a point out of them 3 games I'll be pleasantly surprised.. & a win would be a massive bonus but highly unlikely. West Ham & Arsenal.. if we got 2 draws out of them or 1 win it'll be a brilliant outcome in my opinion.. would set us nicely for the Shefield United game were we should fully assure safety (mathematically).Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Fri Apr 16, 2021 3:48 pmOf our next 5 games, this is the one (or maybe Arsenal) that we’re most likely to get something wrong so I’d take a punt. If I had to pick one to start.. I'll say Wilson as with him upfront we can always nick a goal & his all-round game is essential to the way we play as ASM can have his off days so rather have him running at tired legs in the second half as a impact sub if he's not fully 100% than starting & gassing out in the second half.. have him (Wilson) & Joelinton starting up top & let ASM of the leash after an hour.

I had a dream the other night where ASM dedicated his hat trick to Prince Philip and woke up in a cold sweat thinking I really have to stop eating so much cheese.

Shelvey concedes a needless foul, gets a yellow, and then doesn't even challenge his man on the resulting free kick
Re: Match day thread - NUFC v WHU
Just as I read that he did a trademark lose the ball in the middle of midfield...
He's had two okay games in a row, three is a lot to ask.
