It'll probably depress me if I watch it
The entertainers were just before my time, my first real memories of supporting us were the late 90s and the two FA Cup finals, but I was fully following every result, checking teletext for transfer rumours etc. from the early 2000s when Sir Bobby was in charge.

Entertainers is what cemented me as a Newcastle fan tbh, I have very fond memories of that era.
I remember crying for days when Andy Cole left
My oldest brother who supports Liverpool will never let me live down the 4-3 game, made more iconic as my words just before Liverpools 4th goal was "I think this will finish a draw" As I said draw the move started for their 4th (So yeah blame me for that).
The part which really struck home for me though was the obviously the style of play we didn't go out just to win games , we went out to give the fans something to talk about and to admire even if lost we couldn't say we didn't give it a go today which is something we all still want.

Definitely, I don't think any of us mind losing if we give it a good go. There's nothing worse than going to somewhere like WBA or Sheffield United and clearly setting up to come away with a 0-0 (and often then losing).

I agree that we all want that, but that's also a luxury for sides made up of players who can easily put up 3-5 goals on teams, and don't have to worry about relegation at the end of the season. It's unfortunate we haven't had that level of skill in a decade+ and always seemingly need every last point we can get to avoid the drop.lassassinblanc wrote: ↑Wed May 05, 2021 9:03 amEntertainers is what cemented me as a Newcastle fan tbh, I have very fond memories of that era.

Oh I agree we don't have the players to go at teams gung ho and do have to rely at times on shutting up shop. But what is stopping us from at least trying and trying to buy players who can move us towards that.Remember Colo wrote: ↑Wed May 05, 2021 1:14 pmI agree that we all want that, but that's also a luxury for sides made up of players who can easily put up 3-5 goals on teams, and don't have to worry about relegation at the end of the season. Back then Hall and Keegan took a gamble to do it, it nearly paid off.

No doubt. I really want us to move away from aspiring to just avoid relegation, and all of the risk aversion that comes with that. It'd certainly make for better personnel and football.lassassinblanc wrote: ↑Wed May 05, 2021 3:38 pmOh I agree we don't have the players to go at teams gung ho and do have to rely at times on shutting up shop.
