Good move that he needs, but we need another midfielder in at least on loan to at the very minimum replace depth where we are already lacking. Even if it's the like of Choudery, however you spell it, who I'm not sure would be an improvement. In fairness though, I said the same about Willock in January.

Not sure why there’s uproar, still a complete rookie who needs games and is nowhere near proven to be good enough for the PL.lassassinblanc wrote: ↑Thu Aug 26, 2021 9:55 pmMatty on his way to Aberdeen on loan.
A lot of uproar from the usual places but I think it will be a good move for him, more likely to get gametime he needs
More importantly though, Bruce clearly doesn’t rate him so what’s the point in him staying?

With M Longstaff to Aberdeen now confirmed, there is now a clear and obvious 25 man squad (I don’t need to list them). Which means if we are planning on naming 4GKs and Sean Longstaff doesn’t leave, we’re probably done. If SL leaves/we name 3 GKs, we’ve got room for 2, and if SL leaves and we name 3 GKs then you’d expect 2 through the door.

Supposedly we're signing Lewis Ferguson from Aberdeen, a loan initially with an obligation to buy for £3m at the end of the season. He handed in a transfer request after Aberdeen turned down a bid from Watford.
Aberdeen got Matty Longstaff on loan to replace him.

Seems he's had a good start to his senior career in Scotland, although always hard to know how he'd transition to PL football. I gather he's a central attacking midfielder, but I'm not super familiar with how far forward he typically plays. Would seem like a bit of redundency with Willock.TJR wrote: ↑Fri Aug 27, 2021 6:00 pmSupposedly we're signing Lewis Ferguson from Aberdeen, a loan initially with an obligation to buy for £3m at the end of the season. Look forward to seeing how he gets on in the Northern Premier in a couple of seasons

If true then maybe Slongstaff is out the door too, if we get £10m that would pay for the deal and probably a couple of loans, CDM and a CB would have to be priority surely. I've seen people talking of Kabak on loan which would leave us needing a CDM, although I'm not confident we would bring in another if it got that far.TJR wrote: ↑Fri Aug 27, 2021 6:00 pmSupposedly we're signing Lewis Ferguson from Aberdeen, a loan initially with an obligation to buy for £3m at the end of the season. Where’s the talk of this coming from? I can’t see much at all online (not that that means anything) other than Rangers being heavily linked.

I confess to knowing less than nothing about the player, but that sounds like a tidy bit of business if true. Assuming the scouting system has identified him as someone who will fit in to Bruce's "tactical style of play" better than MLongstaff, then it's a good bit of work.TJR wrote: ↑Fri Aug 27, 2021 6:00 pmSupposedly we're signing Lewis Ferguson from Aberdeen, a loan initially with an obligation to buy for £3m at the end of the season. As for other potential incomings (I'm not optimistic) left sided CB seems like the priority. Kabak would make sense, I seem to remember there were reports in Jan that we were in talks with Schalke to bring him in before Liverpool got involved. Would make sense that there would still be interest. I'm sure I read that Schalke would prefer to get rid of him for a fee though. I like the idea of Malang Sarr on loan from Chelsea. Unlikely we'd be able to keep him, but I think he could be the young (left footed) pacey centre back we need to improve our ageing back line.
We obviously need cover up front and at left back, but most other talk has been about bringing in a holding midfielder. Unless this Ferguson is earmarked for that role (someone said he's more a CAM?) the only seriously linked player I've seen that hasn't already gone elsewhere is that Choudrey from Leicester. I think there was a French lad heavily linked as well, but I'm sure that was for 12-15m fee, maybe as an option instead of Willock. I can't see us paying a permanent fee this window again now.

Seen that too and it just came across like he was trying to look like he gives a s*** rather than actually giving a s***. Why is he suddenly animated when the crowd are chanting against him? If his football wasn't giving him away for how dated he is then the way he acts and answers in such a clichéd manner certainly does.
