Willock Fee Agreed
An actual transfer thread! I thought at best we could get another loan move so very happy if this goes through.

Woop we are finally back to as strong as last year.

Absolutely massive this. Of course he won't be able to keep up that rate of goals from last season but he makes such a huge difference to the way we play. Far more optimistic about the season.

Agreed.
Whilst he alone won’t push us to where fans want to be, he’s the difference between finishing around lower mid table and being in a very real relegation fight.

I really hope this goes through as our best form happened when he signed on loan. Seems to have a great friendship off the field and footballing understanding on the field with Maxi too. His signing is worth 3 okish new signings because he can hit the ground running with our team.
We're still short for cover if we get injuries but if we have the bulk of our first team fit we should be ok (again) this season.

Yeah, our first XI should be good enough to stay up but still at the mercy of a few injuries so will be riding our luck a bit.

Either way, it's not going to be a fun season. It'll be another "exciting" count to 40 points. Yay.

Think this paves the way for some more incomings, getting him on a permanent will mean we have more loan places to play with, I imagine we would have wanted to not use any incase the only available deal for Willock was another loan.
Hopefully with this out the way we can crack on with other targets and salvage this window, maybe we will have a busy deadline day for once.

Re: Willock Fee Agreed
They got it across the line! This felt like an inevitable transfer failure that would have been used as an excuse for not filling other needs. Took them long enough, but I imagine that was down to Arsenal doing their business first.
Re: Willock Fee Agreed
This. Brings a real energy to our midfield. Not only his goals but the way he pushes us forward as a team. Will only get better as he develops his all-round game. Can comfortably play the box-to-box role or attacking mid position. Do we still need another midfielder? Ideally yes someone who can link defence / attack and can give us a technical, physical and powerful presence in midfield. We're being linked to loan deals for Barkley / Ox-Chamberlain.. if we can get either one of them that would be great. Loan deal for Rob Holding (CB/DM/RB) being mooted too.. if we can get Willock + Ox/Barkley + Holding + striker/winger to cover for Wilson that would be a very successful transfer window as it'll give us quality & options/depth. Gotta stay positive.Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Sun Aug 08, 2021 7:23 pmAgreed.

Have we got him over the line yet?

Chris Waugh on the Athletic’s NUFC podcast says there’s been a breakthrough on personal terms, and it could be announced any time.

Quite right too, don't we pay Shelvey something like £70k a week for doing f*** all?
ASM, Wilson and Willock are / will be our key men so should be on a good wage. I know Lascelles is captain but he's not as vital as those three are.
