Match day thread - Watford v NUFC
Watford (a)
The Magpies return to action on Saturday when they face The Hornets at Vicarage Road in an old-fashioned 3pm kick-off.
All 3,000 away tickets have been sold for what is Newcastle's eleventh top-flight visit here. None of the previous 10 ended in away successes (five draws, five losses).
In terms of Premier League visits only, United have drawn three and lost three.
NUFC: Jonjo Shelvey, Paul Dummett, Freddie Woodman, Callum Wilson, Joe Willock and Jamaal Lascelles were all missing from photos of Thursday's training session and confirmed by Steve Bruce on Friday morning as being unavailable.
Photos of Willock wearing a protective boot on his left foot appeared on social media earlier in the week and that's confirmed as a toe problem sustained in training.
Lascelles meanwhile has a thigh issue that will also rule him out of next week's visit to Wolves.
Martin Dubravka has resumed training but Saturday will come too soon for him.
WFC: Daniel Bachmann is doubtful.
Beginning their season with a 3-2 home win over Aston Villa, Watford then lost away at Brighton (0-2) and Spurs (0-1).
Beaten 0-2 by Wolves at Vicarage Road, they then took maximum points at Norwich on Saturday, winning 3-1.
Ismaila Sarr has scored three of their six PL goals to date, Emmanuel Dennis two and Juan Hernandez the other.
A trio of former Magpies could be involved for the hosts, with Rob Elliot, Danny Rose, Dan Gosling and Moussa Sissoko all in Watford's 25 man PL squad.
While Newcastle had a free week to prepare for this game, Watford Head Coach Xisco Munoz made 11 changes to the side he sent out at home to Stoke City in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.
That ended in a 3-1 win for the Championship Potters, goalkeeper Elliot making his competitive Hornets bow.

I attended Watford v Newcastle many years ago, been there about 3 times. Got turfed out for 'pushing in the burger queue' by the police!! As my girlfriend was still stood on the terrace waiting for her burger I had to walk all the way around those feking allotments back to the entrance!! Are they still there??

Fear dread loathing and hope about this in varying degrees.
Gawd only knows what will happen, presently I am planning for a “rinse and repeat standard defeat “

Newcastle XI: Darlow, Ritchie, Clark, Fernandez, Hayden, Manquillo, Joelinton, Longstaff, Willock, Almiron, Saint-Maximin
Subs: Gillespie, Lewis, Fraser, Gayle, Hendrick, Murphy, Anderson, Krafth, Schar
5-4-1?

We’re going to get torn about down our left with Ritchie at left back in a 4. Lewis needs to be playing

Actually seeing it on replay it was a decent strike that the keeper should have saved. But i'll get excited anyway!

Re: Match day thread - Watford v NUFC
That was an awful miss from Longstaff. I hope these misses don't come back to haunt us. Ritchie looks in deep trouble when ever someone runs at him and Hayden is severly lacking ability wise. 2 worst players at the club by far

Re: Match day thread - Watford v NUFC
Disagree on Hayden, we don’t have anybody like him. His passing is crappy but he’s so important defensively.
We’ve looked good - great goal - I just hope we don’t regret missing a couple of glorious chances, that Longstaff one in particular…

I'm glad we don't have anyone else like him haha. Think his passing , pace and positional sense are all below par.

Just woken up (I'm working nights) and forgot this was on. Surprised to see the result so far! How are we playing overall?
