Not usually a fan of players going on strike, but I honestly can't blame them with the way some clubs mess them about. Atletico deserve a lot of praise imo. They didn't want Trippier to leave but they respected his wishes and found a reasonable solution for all parties.

Don't sign long contracts then. Football is basically the only sport in the world where the length of contracts mean nothing - because instead of players being traded for players, or players frequently moving through free agency, they're sold on. Now I admit it cuts both ways - players often feel entitled to leaving before they fulfill the length of the contract, just like teams want rid of players early if they're underperforming. And in the case of the players we're haggling for, it isn't like the clubs are blocking their short-term football ambitions - they're clubs that have won trophies within the past 2 seasons, are competing for them again this season, and don't want to be bullied by a rich relegation-threatened club.Don Sholeone wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 2:50 pmNot usually a fan of players going on strike, but I honestly can't blame them with the way some clubs mess them about. Edit: I should say, clubs often do mess players about, whether it be lying about their role, retaining them but not playing them, long-term blocking of players who deserve new challenges. I just don't know if Sevilla or LOSC represent that right now.

What are the club doing wrong? The player signed a contract so unless the club agree or see it in their best interests then it's up to the player to honour that contract. They're the one that committed to it in the first place. If anything I think it's gone too far the other way and players/agents have far too much power.
I'm the scumbag outlaw. You're the pillar of justice. Neither of us like looking at ourselves in the mirror. Do we have a deal?

It is crazy how many players have been linked. Just saw one for Mario Balotelli.
I think the only player we haven't been linked with is Joe Averageman who plays CD for the Dog and Duck in the St Alban's sunday league. Although personally I think he'd be an improvement on Lascalles so why not phone his agent?

Mind you, he'd likely show up in a fur coat like the gun totin, porn loving Tino Asprilla.

Would've been great to see those two line up for the same side. They could have a pre-game bling off!overseasTOON wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 4:07 pmI did giggle this morning when I read the link to Balotelli.Donkey Toon wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 4:00 pmIt is crazy how many players have been linked. According to Sky another Premier League club have matched our bid for Carlos whilst an Italian club is also said to be interested in him.

Well the talk is that their asking prices have been met but then the clubs have upped the price afterwards.Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 3:05 pmWhat are the club doing wrong? Also to add, a lot of reputable sources have reported that personal terms have already been agreed, so at some point down the line Sevilla must have agreed in principle to a deal.

Re: January Transfer Rumours/Wishlist 21/22
I think you're giving the process and associated agents too much credit. I get the distinct impression a lot of clubs agree to personal terms with the player before agreeing to a fee with the selling club nowadays.Don Sholeone wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 5:22 pmAlso to add, a lot of reputable sources have reported that personal terms have already been agreed, so at some point down the line Sevilla must have agreed in principle to a deal.
Re: January Transfer Rumours/Wishlist 21/22
Definitely, "tapping up" is basically how most big transfers happen these days and has been for some time.

If it was a case of tapping up then I'd imagine Sevilla would be kicking up a fuss about that considering he's handed in a transfer request to push this through.

Re: January Transfer Rumours/Wishlist 21/22
I’m sure I read that in Spain you can agree with the player before the club accepts an offer. Seems that way anyway.
