The way the rumours are going it does seem like Trippier and Botman are pretty much nailed on.

Also I think a lot of people are giving footballers too much credit, if we can pay Trippier the same to play in the PL again then CL isn't relevant imo, to be honest I think the majority of the time CL football isnt relevant, if a player is offered 20k more to play for a non-CL club, the majority would take that offer or at least seriously consider it.
Don't disagree, but there's a difference between a 'non-CL club' and a club that is odds on to be relegated this season.

For the record I think that given our run of fixtures in Jan/Feb we can still stay up, but a lot is down to Watford, Norwich and Burnely not picking up many points over the next 3 games.

If the gap is around 6 points going into January then it's do-able, if it's much more I think it'll be unlikely. We really don't want Watford winning tonight as that'll open a 6 point gap.

I do like those rumoured names though. We've been crying out for a high quality full back for a while now - barring the partial great season we got from Willems.

I think it ultimately comes down to how many more games can we win from January onwards compared to the other clubs around us, with reinforcements would it be a such a big ask to say we could win 3 or maybe 4 more games than a Watford or Burnley in the second half of the season. If so we could potentially stay up if we are 9-12 points adrift. Obviously the closer the better. But atm I think it's still far too early call it.

For sure. We're literally talking about half of a season. With some significant changes in the squad there's no reason to suggest we can't have a completely different second half.

We've done it for about the last 4 seasons without the overhaul. Rafa's even suggesting that's what Everton will do...

I don't think Burnley's season depends on them keeping Tarkowski, without him their defence is still pretty well drilled, I think if they were offered £20m they would need to seriously consider it in order to improve in areas further up the pitch which you could argue gives them a better chance of survival.

They would also risk him leaving for free in the summer and still getting relegated leaving them worse off overall.

As for us I imagine it's a now or never deal, we cannot afford to wait until the summer for a CB, I honestly think we get 2 this year, Botman seems nailed on, then there is talk/rumours of Ake or Ginter. Someone like Cook I'd imagine would be for squad depth with CB also moving out in January.
Tarkowski is their best defender by a mile. No chance they sell him to a rival unless we massively overpay. At which point we could just go after someone better.

Ake is still getting some game time for City, can't see them selling him unless they sign a CB.

Cook would surely only come in if Clark and Fernandez are moved on.

Report of us having made a £88m bid for Vlahovic. Might be bs, but still quite shocking to see these kind of reports/rumours <laugh>

Getting in their last bit of sponsored content before they get the boot in favour of Aramco.

If you're after a new phone I think they're Sony Ericsson now.

Vlahovic would be a huge statement of intent. One of the best up and coming players in the world so would love him here, also Darwin Nunez who we have been linked with too, another young star. Throw in Lingard and with ASM that's a top front 4.

Does Sony even make phones now? I remember my best friend in Uni having one. Could hear his damn tapping (not typing - this was pre-smartphone) from 4 rows away.

Xperia is still going isn’t it?

This was my first mobile phone:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Philips-BT-C ... 635-2958-0

The game on it was getting given a number and having to guess it the next one was higher or lower <laugh>

Moved on to the Nokia 3310 and Snake after that.

Xperia still going strong. They have a big one and a smaller one also. They also made the first new generation flip phone, then Samsung copied it and came out with a flip phone themselves. Xperia fcked up by using 2 year old hardware and that is why the only one people have heard about is the Samsung <laugh>

Fair enough. I feel like Europe has a wider selection of cell phone hardware than North America - or at least Canada. Then again, retail competition is a fairy tale idea here, especially in the telecom industry.
