Re: Transfer Rumours/Wishlist
Newcastle still a stepping stone club presently rather than a destination club.
We are still very much a work in progress club , playing wise and commercially.
Still , it’s a decent enough journey compared to the pre takeover era.
Hay hoh.

Even though it's early days for the new owners, that will surely be a big blow to their plans and something they won't have anticipated.Valentino's fast feet wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2024 10:54 amSurely this puts is behind more than losing any player at this time? Been here short of two years and only just building the network up, but such an integral member of the team to lose. Not to mention the information he may have that could aid a potential positional rival.

Roy Hodgson set to be sacked.
Re: Transfer Rumours/Wishlist
Obviously being picked off by a rival and losing him so soon is undoubtedly a set back but impact of losing DOF would be difficult to assess. He’s not been here long enough to judge if he’s been successful or not. Just because he’s highly regarded doesn’t automatically mean whatever he does will be a success.

Re: Transfer Rumours/Wishlist
In the time he's been with the club he'd have set out the framework of what was required for the club to move forwards and that framework won't just vanish into thin air if/when he departs.
From the sounds of it, he doesn't have an all powerful "man from Delmonte" role within the club and also you can look to Brighton since he left who are still productive and making improvements based on his work there, so it's safe to assume he doesn't silo himself and his changes and vision can still be implemented even if he's not actually involved.

I'll look forward to him being thrown under the bus like everyone who came before him, when Man Utd are still doing s*** and are outside of the top 4.
Also I think it puts a little bit of a black mark next to his name too, dipped out on Brighton and now us, doesn't really seem to follow through on his projects, probably for the best that we get someone in with a little more commitment to the job. Especially when our project is a substantial one that will take time.

Not sure how I feel about another Minteh loan. Probably for the best as long as our recruitment is decent this Summer.

Yeah, I think given that we'll strengthen in summer (by the sounds of it could see quite a lot of business, more so if the financial rules are updated as expected) Minteh would have limited opportunities here next season and a loan to a good standard league (as now) will be far better for his development. Wouldn't be surprised if he stays with us for most of pre-season though and goes on any tour, then joins someone on loan just before the start of next season.originallad wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2024 11:03 amSaw that. Joelinton is a no-brainer, likely he might get a release clause put in like Bruno did but that works for both parties.

Yeah, if Joelinton does sign it's excellent news. I was almost resigned to him having played his last game. We've sorely missed his presence in the midfield these last few weeks/months with him out.

I'd say Minteh Will definitely stay during pre season alright, probably join someone closer to deadline.Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2024 11:06 amYeah, I think given that we'll strengthen in summer (by the sounds of it could see quite a lot of business, more so if the financial rules are updated as expected) Minteh would have limited opportunities here next season and a loan to a good standard league (as now) will be far better for his development. Have heard a few Bundesliga teams have been taking a look at him so that could be most likely destination
I'll Hazard a guess

Re: Transfer Rumours/Wishlist
Says Lascelles triggered it, so must have been something along the lines of if he played more than X minutes then he got an extension?
Of course that doesn't mean he won't be sold in summer if we get a new CB in.

Re: Transfer Rumours/Wishlist
To he honest if Dummett is going as rumoured it doesn't hurt to have a cheap experienced head in the squad, even if just to get more hilarious timewasting bookings when not on the pitch.

Yeah I think most have a lot of time for lascelles. He stuck around when things were at their lowest, always led by example, hasn’t complained when he doesn’t play much and generally does a good enough job when called upon. Chances are he won’t get much game time next season (tho a fair chunk in the conference league if we’re in that) but he’s more than good enough to be our likely 4th choice CB.

I mean Howe doesn’t exactly have a track record of being 100% honest
Tho it means it hasn’t been triggered yet so could still be sent back, presumably…

Another goal from Minteh at the weekend, makes it 7 goals and 2 assists in the league this season from 19 matches (also got a CL goal).
