But makes it very difficult if the player isn't particularly good e.g. Hendrick was on over £50k a week but no Championship side would (understandably) pay that. It's why we've struggled to move a lot of the Ashley-era players on as they're on decent money relative to their ability e.g. Hayden, Fraser.Colback's Orange Tufts wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2024 11:23 amShifting players really helps if they are on big wages. Miggy, Dubravka will be to some extent. Lewis and Murphy I'd guess are cheap relatively speaking

Yeah, I think LB is well covered, you can add Tino and Trippier as potential cover too.
Looks that CB is big priority with lots of talk about Thiaw.
Reports saying we are looking at another forward, so after that a RW too hopefully.

Reports we are in for Wilfried Gnonto at Leeds. RW that can play through the middle, so makes sense. Although there's a reason he's about to start his second season in the championship, not exactly setting the world alight. If we have the budget and the ability for a top class signing, like an Isak or a Tonali, then it has to be at RW surely. A long term right sided CB is needed, but I wouldn't say the priority right now.

Think he's Everton bound and our name was just being used by agents.Valentino's fast feet wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 8:58 amReports we are in for Wilfried Gnonto at Leeds. Yeah I really don't care much either way on Gnonto.
I do think Elanga is a good player, if those rumours are true I'd rather have him.

I'd prefer that. Can we buy another player who doesn't currently play in England, please?Over The Line wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 9:07 amThink he's Everton bound and our name was just being used by agents.Valentino's fast feet wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 8:58 amReports we are in for Wilfried Gnonto at Leeds. Bless you.
On a serious note, there any credence to that? Always a good signing on FM, albeit partly due to the financial benefits inherent in the game with his nationality. But solid right winger that went off the radar a bit. To be frank, I hadn't realised he was at PSG now. But I suppose that happens a lot. Definitely an interesting name to be linked for that RW slot. Get him and Johnny David, and start farming in league Unnn again

Loan
Clydeside & Tyneside
Re: Transfer Rumours/Wishlist
Gnonto would be a meh signing for me. Obviously has talent and shown flashes, could be great in the long term. but he's not the obvious upgrade, slot straight in to the first team player I want to see at RW

Yeah, got to say I'd be Gnonto pleased if we signed him.

Re: Transfer Rumours/Wishlist
Schmeichel going to Celtic probably nulls their interest in Dubravka though I'd say a few teams might have an interest in him so still expect him to go.
Howe had claimed he wants to keep Wilson I'd imagine that's only if he isn't presented with a nice replacement.
Almiron still might leave and recent interest in Kangin Lee might speed up his departure.
Would expect to see at least one new name before heading to Japan
