Neto is definitely a crock - 20 PL games last season, 13 the season before that, 18 the season before.

Have we had any solid links to Mbeumo? He’s 100% a Howe player.

I wonder why very few Italians have come to / fully flourished in the PL.
Their own good league? The same can generally be said for German and Spanish players too (or English for that matter), who tend to play domestically until a club comes calling with such dramatically better salaries they can't say no. And it's a pretty narrow window of players that are so good that an English club is willing to pay big dollars but the high-paying clubs like Real Madrid, Juve, Bayern, etc. aren't willing to.

Possibly. Tho I’d say more Spanish and Germans have come and down well compared to Italians.

Is Ballotelli the only Italian to win the Premier league? I've got a vague recollection that Federicho Macheda came close with man u, but at the time needed a set number of appearances which he didn't meet.

Cudicini when he was at Chelsea? Probably there at the same time as Cech so maybe didn’t play enough.

Oh s***, Jorginho would've won it with Chelsea?

Didn't win it, think Balotelli is still the only outfield player to do it.

Cuddicini didn't get enough apps to qualify.

In terms of the football, Italian players tend to be very insular. I think because they have historically had teams that have been highly regarded so they see their league as quite prestigious already, I think culturally they aren't as willing or interested in exploring other ways of life which is probably why they have a fair few issues with racism within Italy.

Another factor I think is probably their footballing philosophy not always being compatible with the rest of Europe so they maybe have difficulties adapting and understanding different systems maybe.

Also all that said, there are probably others around Europe saying the same about English players, it's only in recent years there have been a steady flow of English players moving to other leagues. Before it was just really high profile moves that didn't really last too long, these days you are seeing English players in the foreign academy and the less high profile players moving about.

Wasn't it Ian Rush who once said, after being asked about playing for Juve "I couldn't settle in Italy. It's like living in a foreign country"

Yeah, for a long long time hardly any English players (academy or professionals) moved abroad so it is quite refreshing to see it happening more now. I think it’s especially good for the development of younger players, both personally and professionally to experience different leagues and cultures.

Will his transfer fee be independently verified…? In todays market what we got for him was cheap.

Good move for him. Working under Mourinho and playing in the Champions League. Win-win for him. Wouldn't mind him back here but doubt it'll ever happen now. Wish him the best one of our most naturally gifted and skilful players we've ever had in the last decade or two. Frustrating at times but fun to see him play at his best ala Ben Arfa. <applause>

Ben Jacobs can be very hit and miss I find, but this would be an incredible start if we upgrade Wilson with J. David

I know a certain TF member who will champion the move for Jonathan David…!

Not the same type of player, but if man c sell KdB to Saudi I’d be very worried about Bruno going (and he’d be mad to turn that move down).

Benny's talking about me! I'm keeping the dream alive. If so, the club better hope he doesn't contribute to us upsetting Argentina tonight, or his price would be going up.

I wouldn't necessarily recommend he play as a winger, but he can play effectively in a front 2 (Marsch is playing a 4-2-2-2 for Copa), or as a 9 or 10, dropping deeper for build up play, or playing off the back shoulder to get in behind. He wouldn't create goals out of nothing like Isak, doesn't have the dribbling skill of him - and is more of a poacher, but definitely presses and passes well. Has always seemed like the type of player Howe likes.
