Matchday thread - Villa v Toon
Can the Toon make it 6 (SIX) consecutive Premier League victories for the second time this season?
Newcastle play their third successive game away from SJP on Saturday, travelling to Villa Park in search of a third successive victory on the road and what would be a sixth in total since losing at Manchester City.
It's a 12.30pm start live on BT Sport and the 3,000 away allocation was snapped up.
Our recent top flight visits to this venue have been demoralising, with a trio of 0-2 losses preceded by back to back 0-0 draws.
The last time we wandered down Witton way with three points was in September 2013, Yoan Gouffran's effort giving us a 2-1 win. Since then we've gone 467 minutes without finding the net.
NUFC: Miguel Almiron has returned to full training earlier than expected and may feature at Villa.
Allan Saint-Maximin won't be involved on Saturday but earlier fears of a significant hamstring issue were set aside by Eddie Howe on Friday, without pinpointing an exact return date other than "very soon".
Bruno Guimaraes continues to play on, despite an ankle problem.
Coral rate this game as follows:
NUFC win 11/10
Any draw 23/10
AVFC win 5/2
NUFC win, BTTS 16/5
NUFC to keep a clean sheet 7/4
AVFC: Jed Steer remains out, while there are doubts over Leon Bailey, Boubacar Kamara, Matty Cash and Philippe Coutinho.
The Villans are in excellent form, winning their last four games and taking 19 points from a possible 21.
At Villa Park this season, they've won each of their last three games without conceding a goal but have been beaten five times on home soil - by West Ham, Chelsea, Liverpool, Leicester City and Arsenal.
Their heaviest defeat of the season remains the 0-4 reverse at SJP in October, 48 hours before Unai Emery formally took charge of the first team. Since then, they've scored at least one goal in all 19 PL and cup matches that they've played.
Referee: John Brooks - Leicester-based official who took charge of Newcastle's 5-1 PL home win against Brentford and the 1-0 League Cup victory over Bournemouth at SJP earlier this season.

Re: Matchday thread - Villa v Toon
Not going to be able to watch this one because of the early kick-off - shall be checking the score every so often whilst cycling in The Dales. I'm going for a very nervy 2-1 win for The Toon although my liver would settle for a draw after all the recent celebratiing!

Re: Matchday thread - Villa v Toon
Can't stand Villa fans. They have a long standing 'Let's all laugh at Newcastle' topic on their forum.
Really hoped that Emery would fall flat on his face when he got appointed but fair play to him, he's done well so far and they're doing well too. Would genuinely take a point before kick off because I can't stand losing to these cunts.

Massive game this, need to heap the pressure on Man Utd especially with their current injury situation, could be a good time to cut them adrift of us if they do start to slip a little.

I have that hope that we'll make it 6 on the bounce but also feel that bubble will burst very quickly in this match.
