NUFC Kits Thread
Re: NUFC Kits Thread
I want to like it and the whole re-imagining of old adidas kits, but there's just something not working for me in the photos. Not sure if it's the big green bit on the sleeves or the asymmetrical 1x black, 2x green logos on the front...
After watching the highlights of the friendly and seeing the home kit in action (albeit with white shorts) - why bother with a white third kit when your home kit is already predominantly white?

Re: NUFC Kits Thread
I really do like that 3rd kit, the 1 black 2 green thing doesn't bother me too much.
I think in general most 3rd kits are pointless beyond the extra sales income. Our 3rd the other year was pretty useless as we had to play Brighton in our training tops, so the main aim can't be to avoid colour clashes.

Re: NUFC Kits Thread
It's pure sales. I remember the good old days when they were "European away kits" when brought in (other than that random recoloured Villa shirt in the 90s), but then just became 3rd shirts when we stopped qualifying.

Re: NUFC Kits Thread
I mean, yes, I think they want to produce enough kit options that fans will like at least one enough to buy something, which to be fair has worked on me a couple times. It's never really offended me though as I don't actually feel pressure to buy any, and inevitably there's usually one I like so little I'm glad to see it less on the pitch.

Re: NUFC Kits Thread
I guess most grownups don’t care, but I do feel a bit for parents who have young kids that are desperate for every new kit. If the parents can’t afford it then it puts a lot of pressure / guilt on them. Tho you could say that’s no different to every area of life e.g. if the ‘poor kids’ see their mates jetting off to America or the Maldives on holiday while they go for a wet weekend in Skegness..

Re: NUFC Kits Thread
I'm sure it does happen, but I'm not convinced the "kids want every new kit" thing isn't led by parents. I've never had it from my two (12 and 8 ) who have always been content with my end of season buys.
Incidentally I was at a meeting today opposite St James' (we have a handy occasional office) so popped into the temp club shop at lunch. Absolutely rammed, £71 for a pre printed Gordon kids top. f*** that.

Re: NUFC Kits Thread
It's definitely parent driven imo.
I work with someone and they spoil their grandson rotten, the lad is well into his football, they have convinced him he will make it as a pro, he's supposed to be very good for his age but his attitude is very much that of a spoiled brat and it's something that's come up during his recent trials. They buy him almost every club shirt he wants from across multiple clubs, talking easily about 10-15 shirts per season, they will give him money for every goal he scores at weekends or new shirts and football gear for man of the match awards, it's gotten to the point he will throw a strop when coaches try to teach him new positions.
It's very much the parents and families that drive these behaviours, it's a shame because the little lad has been looked by a lot of teams in the local areas but the family has moulded him to such a spoiled little s***.

Re: NUFC Kits Thread
One of my nephews isn't a brat by any stretch (actually the opposite and takes everything to heart too easily) but he sometimes struggles to see the value of money and how not everyone has it. My sister has been a single parent on a below average wage for most of his life, obviously gives him what she can, but he has some friends who are from quite well-off families. They're nice kids, but they always get a new bike, the latest games console etc every Christmas without fail and he obviously wants to keep up and be the same - which isn't always possible.
The school are ridiculous, every year they mandate overseas field trips (he's been to Barcelona, Paris etc.) and they cost a fortune. It's not optional, and my sister really struggles to pull the money together. They seem to have no appreciation that some families literally live pay check to pay check and can't afford £600+ on a 2 night residential trip. Pretty sure I've vented this before

Send these youngsters down a pit I say
the one at Beamish, because they should use money for family time not material goods

Re: NUFC Kits Thread
Schools have become worse, especially the so called academies. Very out of touch, some of the local ones here parents are having to spend a few hundred every year just on uniforms. I know some.schools now where they even have to be from an exclusive supplier so it can't be any old black trousers or blazer.
Mandatory overseas trips is absolutely ridiculous, but really doesn't surprise me.

We live in a nice area and it's already started with our school at primary.bodacious benny wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2024 4:31 pmOne of my nephews isn't a brat by any stretch (actually the opposite and takes everything to heart too easily) but he sometimes struggles to see the value of money and how not everyone has it. Also what's bad is having events during the school day where parents are invited. So the families with a stay at home mum or local grandparents come and the other kids are upset their parents aren't there. Don't get me started on the PTA trying to guilt trip working parents

Re: NUFC Kits Thread
Just looking into the mandatory trips thing, apparently it's only mandatory if its part of the curriculum, but if it's part of the curriculum they are also not allowed to force parents to pay, they can ask for a donation towards the costs but there is zero obligation to pay it seems. They can only legally charge if it's optional trip.

There it is, a thing of beauty. The ad is another weird mix of eras mind, a 96 shirt inspiration with an 80s soundtrack, inexplicable Nobby Solano, and what I'd suggest are some very non 90s looking trains...
