Yeah, Trippier was definitely banned for a few months, because it was a big deal that he played so well he was in team of the year, despite missing a good chunk of the season.

I guess it would have made him fresher as the season went on as he'd had less minutes than most other players!Valentino's fast feet wrote: ↑Mon Oct 16, 2023 10:11 pmYeah, Trippier was definitely banned for a few months, because it was a big deal that he played so well he was in team of the year, despite missing a good chunk of the season.
I think we're in part seeing that with Gordon. Even though he played over summer for the u21s he didn't really get many minutes the second half of last season when he joined so he's still got lots of energy and is fresh. If he'd played all of last season and then over summer and then straight into this season he might have been f***ed, especially given the intensity that he now plays with.

Fagioli banned for 7 months,
I see Tonali had played the I'm addicted to gambling card...which could of course be true but seems like an obvious excuse after being caught.

Apparently he's going to talk about it more openly after the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace on Saturday.

I presume if he denies it then there will have to be an investigation/hearing first which will take time? But if he admits it then could be a swift ban.
Do we think AC had any knowledge of this as per conspiracy theorists are suggesting and that's part of the reason that they sold him?

Unclear at the moment if the ban only applies to Italian football

Definitely a possibility, same goes for Roma and Zaniolo he was very swiftly discarded start of this year by them.Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2023 5:48 pmI presume if he denies it then there will have to be an investigation/hearing first which will take time? Silly boy , think he'll be getting a lengthy ban....100% AC Milan knew what they were doing when selling him

Will this be effective immediately?lassassinblanc wrote: ↑Wed Oct 18, 2023 9:55 am

You'd think so, given that he's admitted it.Chappy wrote: ↑Wed Oct 18, 2023 9:56 amWill this be effective immediately?lassassinblanc wrote: ↑Wed Oct 18, 2023 9:55 am

That's him done for the season then if it's 7 months.

Daft lad like, shouldn't be betting at all imo, that said shouldn't actually backing your team to win be a lot less serious offence than the spot fixing over yellow cards etc which is more in line with match fixing. At the least it's not like you can do anything dodgy when you are essentially backing yourself.

Daft for sure but I guess nobody knows the circumstances. I'm sure he'll learn a valuable person but also got to remember he's just a young guy who's f***ed up.
True about betting on your own team to win tho! I guess the counter argument would be that you could be in cahoots with an opponent who has bet on their team to lose if you were playing against them, so essentially profiting twice potentially.
The issue will be rife in football, the handful getting found out will probably be the tip of the iceberg. If you think there are over 100,000 registered professional footballers in the world, some of them will definitely gamble, even if it's only 1% then that's still 1,000 players.

So stupid, cant come put with the gambling addict excuse if you've been betting on your own team, no one will beleive you even if its true which I doubt it is.

Daft and now caught , no doubt more in Italy to follow.
Seemingly over 40 or so cited as involved or certainly assisting with this investigation.
I think Tonalini is done with us if he cops for a year or eighteen month ban. He will prob re hab a lot in Italy and I think that will knock off any appetite for a future with Newcastle. Seems plausible now how relatively easily we bought Tonali from Milan
I think the club have known for a while this has been brewing hence the Smith Rowe and Philips noise.

Few people starting to come out in support of him which might work in his favour. Merson actually talking some sense for once too, talking about the difference in spot fixing and attempting to cheat Vs just gambling in general. It's an urge and for thrill seeking majority of the time and not a case of greed in most cases.
