Really good player in Barnes. Great numbers in the PL and at only 25.

His end product last season was excellent in a relegated side. Fee is a bit on the high side, he’s not as exciting as ASM but unquestionably more productive where it matters.

It feels like a Howe signing. I think most of the English lads are. He's decent but I think we are overpaying a tad. Similar situation to Gordon. He'll add something but I think we could get better players for the same amount if we looked at Europe. I think players like Bruno and Tonali would have cost X2 as much if they were English.

I don't really buy the not as exciting narrative either. I find goals a lot more exciting than step overs.

Pretty sure we are keeping players like Dummet and Ritchie around for the hoemgrown quota, so signing slightly overpriced English talent does make sense rather than going abroad.

Happy with this, nice to have a replacement lined up instantly. Feels almost professional.

Back when he was out on loan to then-Championship side Barnsley in the 2017/18 season, Barnes netted a stunning leveller in an away game at Sheffield Wednesday. Three years later amid the pandemic, the Yorkshire club held a competition for fans to submit their own commentary on their favourite goals.

And when supporter Christopher Milford choose Barnes', his effort quickly went viral. In the clip, he hilariously exclaimed: "Ooooooh Harvey Barnes, it’s an equaliser. Harvey Barnes, get in."
