Matchday thread - Toon v Citeh
Newcastle's second PL fixture of the season takes them to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday for a frankly ridiculous 8pm start live on TNT Sports.
Team: Emil Krafth and Joe Willock remain sidelined.
Coral rate this match as follows:
MCFC win 8/11
The draw 14/5
NUFC win 18/5
MCFC win, BTTS 23/10
NUFC win to nil 8/1
MCFC to win to nil 21/10
NUFC to score exactly one goal 6/4
MCFC: The hosts will be without Kevin De Bruyne after he suffered a repeat of his hamstring problems in the season opener at Burnley. Also confirmed as missing out are John Stones and Bernado Silva.
While Newcastle have a full week to prepare for this game, City were in action on Wednesday, travelling to Athens to face Sevilla in the Super Cup Final.
1-1 after 90 minutes, Pep Guardiola's side triumphed 5-4 in the penalty shootout that followed.
Referee: Robert Jones - a full house last season for the Merseysider, overseeing our home victories over Chelsea, Fulham and Brighton.
VAR: Jarred Gillett
UK TV: Live on TNT (formerly BT Sport)
UK Radio: Live on talkSPORT
Local Radio: Live on BBC Radio Newcastle
Stats:
The last Newcastle goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet in the PL against Manchester City was Steve Harper, back in November 2006 - a 0-0 draw at the Etihad.
City have netted at least once in all 29 subsequent home and away meetings in this competition.
This is United's nineteenth PL visit to this venue and they have lost all but two of them, both ending in draws. Their sole victory came in a League Cup tie.
Eddie Howe's side are seeking to halt a sequence of 14 PL losses since that 0-0 draw here in 2006.
Since DeAndre Yedlin's goal in September 2018, no Magpie has netted here in 420 minutes of play. During that same period, City have scored 15 times.
The black and whites last led here when Alexander Mitrovic opened the scoring in October 2015.

My mate is a city fan and says he’d take a draw due to their injuries, playing midweek etc.
How long has it been that we’ve even had a conversation about having a realistic chance of points at the etihad!
2-1 win, f*** it

Where's the best place to get a decent stream nowadays for those of us without BT Sport or whatever it's called these days?

Pub?UlversToon wrote: ↑Sat Aug 19, 2023 1:42 pmWhere's the best place to get a decent stream nowadays for those of us without BT Sport or whatever it's called these days?
Or I often use AES sports .com
You have to refresh the page every 2 minutes
It will terminate after about 15 mins, but if you can change your IP address via vpn it let's you back
Bit of a fanny on - bit I've watched dozens of games this way

Cheers - unfortunately the pub isn't an option tonight so I'll give AES a go but I'm a technology so the VPN may confuse me although I have one set up!Slim999 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 19, 2023 4:08 pmPub?UlversToon wrote: ↑Sat Aug 19, 2023 1:42 pmWhere's the best place to get a decent stream nowadays for those of us without BT Sport or whatever it's called these days?

So reluctant to play a progressive ball so then we pass it around aimlessly until someone eventually plays a shitter of a basic pass.

Need to get some snap and energy into our performance. It’s all dull as dishwater and passive all over the park
