Why on earth is there only one game on the sunday? Not sure which of the saturday games you'd move as all fairly banal, but Forest v Brentford is hardly a stand up barn burner. I realise there's a lot more involved in terms of match days, away travel etc, but still. Seems a wierd programme

I'm guessing it's because of European mid week games?Valentino's fast feet wrote: ↑Fri Sep 29, 2023 11:05 pmWhy on earth is there only one game on the sunday? Yeah, looking at the fixtures there's a lot of stinkers there without the European teams. Could maybe have had Fulham Chelsea but presumably that wouldn't be the 4:30 for the same reason the NLD wasn't last week.overseasTOON wrote: ↑Sat Sep 30, 2023 6:58 amI'm guessing it's because of European mid week games?Valentino's fast feet wrote: ↑Fri Sep 29, 2023 11:05 pmWhy on earth is there only one game on the sunday? I'm all for more Saturday 3pms but at the same time what am I supposed to watch while ironing tomorrow afternoon? Why do they never consider the put upon ironing fans when arranging the schedule?

PGMOL have released a statement saying the Liverpool disallowed goal was onside and VaR failed to intervene.

It's incredibly difficult to be torn between thinking that offside decision is absolutely awful, and revelling in Klopp being on the end of it. It's almost annoying as I'd have happily watched him whinge about the correct red cards, him having a justifiable complaint is irritating.

Robertson should have had a red too. Straight arm to the head followed by an ott challenge on the next player. If that had been Carroll, deeney, kiefer Moore, they'd be off like a shot.

They've dropped a massive bollock like - but what's the end result? An apology? They can't give back points, but will the officials be held accountable and fined/sacked?Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Sat Sep 30, 2023 7:18 pmPGMOL have released a statement saying the Liverpool disallowed goal was onside and VaR failed to intervene.

If you get a chance, try and see the opening goal in the Bologna Vs Empoli game.
Stunning.

Nice that Liverpool are finally getting a taste of what it's normally like to play against Liverpool.Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Sat Sep 30, 2023 7:18 pmPGMOL have released a statement saying the Liverpool disallowed goal was onside and VaR failed to intervene.
They've had enough dodgy decisions go in their favour the past few years.

Re: Weekend football - 30/9 to 02/10/23
Does anyone actually believe VAR has had a positive impact on football? I’m starting to think it’s perhaps the worst thing to happen to the game since…well, I’m not sure what. Ruins the flow of the game, goals often half celebrated as fans don’t want to get carried away, decisions are still open to interpretation and ultimately deemed as incorrect just as they were before the whole thing was introduced. So what has the benefit been?
VAR in its current set-up needs to go as the game is worse off for it. Be better off gradually introducing new forms of technology (instant offsides) as opposed to referring everything back to VAR. Nothing against introducing technology or automation so long as the game can still flow: go-line technology a prime example.
Also while I’m at it, I can’t keep up with the laws of the game - handball rule etc as they keep changing them so I no longer have any idea what’s a foul/punishable offence anymore.

VAR and the PGMOL are an absolute scourge to the game imo.
VAR is a well intended tool but is over used by people with no feel for the game. Technology was supposed to help the referees but instead it compounds human error upon another layer of human error in a van miles from anywhere.
The PGMOL is currently just a wet fantasy for Howard Webb and his wife ( there’s the nepotism bit ) and is to all intent and purpose a blunt tool and merely acts as an apologist for the refereeing fraternity every week after more cock ups during games.
VAR and the PGMOL are degrading the enjoyment and impulsive flow of the game from a supporting and playing experience.
Don’t get me started with what LiVARpool are now spouting off and coming away with.
This is all heading in the wrong direction and it’s just a complete farce.
It’s football fffs not nuclear physics
