Overjoyed at the result, but even better that Burn and Longstaff were amongst the scorers. So happy for them and proud of the whole team and staff!!

What a night, reality still sinking in
The icing on the cake would be getting an email tomorrow telling me we’ve got tickets for Palace

Just wow! From where we were less than 2 years ago to now!
Huge shoutout to Lascelles who let’s be honest most fans thought we were screwed when Botman got injured but he’s been superb since coming in. And Longstaff is one of the most underrated players in the league, so happy that him and Burn got goals!
We might be a bit f***ed for the weekend with more injuries but that’s a worry for another day!!

I'm the scumbag outlaw. You're the pillar of justice. Neither of us like looking at ourselves in the mirror. Do we have a deal?

On the footballing side we need to be careful, could get a pasting, far too much cockiness on social media etc suggesting we should get 3 points, I'd be happy with 1 again

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v PSG
Lascelles has been one of my favourite players for a long time, admittedly not recently for the obvious reasons that out of sight. I remember going to Everton away the season we went down, and this giant of a kid bollocking everyone else for quite clearly not caring. Obvious choice for Captain in the championship season, real leader pulling us up by anything he can get hold of. Been great in a Newcastle shirt, until the point where we went whatever the opposite of off a cliff is. Up a valley?
Great defender that's done brilliant for us, and was rightfully in with an England shout at one point, should've happened, often didn't. Ultimately under the new regime, we improved immensely, and had the means to bring in players like Botman. Which is hardly a slight on Lascelles, we've progressed more rapidly than I'm sure even the ownership thought. Two years ago we were winless and propping up the table. Now we are beating the so called elite comfortably.
Going b ack to Lascelles, the best thing is how gracious he's been. Obviously none of us are at the training ground or the dressing rooms (presumably), but there's been no muss or fuss. He's still the captain, he's still important, he just doesn't play that often. He clearly has passion for the team, getting a couple yellow cards from the bench last season. In the Athletic they always refer to Trippier as the "on field" Captain, which I think is a touch of class from them. Possibly other places too, but a lot of media just refer to Trippier as the Captain. Not wrongly, as he's the one wearing the arm band most of the time. One positive of the injuries lately is giving Lascelles the chance to step back into the team and show what he's capable of, and wear that armband that has never really left his possession. Just loaned out from time to time.
