Matchday thread - Toon v Chelsea
Another 6 pointer beckons.
Newcastle return to action when they travel to Stamford Bridge for a Premier League fixture on Monday.
It's an 8pm kick-off live on Sky Sports.
Following United's 4-1 win at Gallowgate in November, Eddie Howe's side have the chance to complete a league double over the Blues for the first time since 1987.
To achieve that though, they'll need to register only a second PL win on this ground in what will be 29 visits.
This will be our second game there this season, following a 1-1 draw and subsequent penalty shootout loss in the League Cup during December.
The two sides also met in pre-season in the USA on the neutral ground of MLS side Atlanta United, drawing 1-1 thanks to Miggy Almiron's equaliser.
Newcastle will wear their home kit on Monday night.
Team: Kieran Trippier will be absent due to the calf injury that forced him off during the victory over Wolves. He'll also miss out on England duty but is anticipated to return for the West Ham game.
On-loan Chelsea player Lewis Hall is ineligible but Matt Targett may return to the squad following injury.
The threat of a two-match PL suspension continues to hang over Bruno Guimaraes, who has been on nine bookings for the last six games.
Anthony Gordon is two PL yellows away from suffering the same fate and has avoided censure in his most recent five PL outings.
The cut-off point to avoid a ban is 32 games.
Tonali rates this match as follows:
NUFC win 27/10
The draw 29/10
CFC win 10/11
CFC: Wesley Fofana, Christopher Nkunku, Lesley Ugochukwu and Reece James all remain sidelined while the availability of Romeo Lavia, Benoit Badiashile and Carney Chukwuemeka is yet to be established.
There are fresh doubts over Levi Colwill, Ben Chilwell and Marc Cucurella, while Conor Gallagher has a virus.
Mixed returns on home soil so far this season for Mauricio Pochettino's side; winning five, drawing three and losing the other four - Forest, Villa, Brentford and Wolves all leaving Stamford Bridge with maximum points.
Referee: John Brooks - a third Magpies posting of the season for the Leicester official, following the 1-2 PL home loss to Liverpool and 3-1 success at Aston Villa.

4-2 win for us with Palmer getting a brace for Chelsea as he's in my FPL team. Happy for us to concede as my rival has Dubravka in goal.

4-1 win tonight to complete the double with an 8-2 aggregate...
My problem is reconciling my gross behaviour with my net income.
Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Chelsea
What would people's starting line-up be? I'll go..
Dubra
Tino Schar Botman Burn
Miley Bruno Willock
Murphy Isak Gordon
I can see Chelsea edging it if I'm honest.. tight game but 2-1 with Sterling & Palmer scoring for them. Isak for us.

I think it'll be same as v Wolves (other than Tino in place of Trippier), Miley on the bench.

I was there for that one. The away end went a bit mental and the Chelsea fans nearby looked stunned.Valentino's fast feet wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2024 6:26 pmI missed that game because my train broke down and my phone died. I went to bed sulking when I got home and had no idea till the next morning
