Matchday thread - Toon v Chelsea
This Sunday sees the Magpies play their penultimate PL home game of the season, hosting the Blues in a Noon kick-off that's live on TNT Sports.
Newcastle go in search of their sixth successive home league victory since losing 1-2 to Fulham in February.
They've won 11 times SJP in the PL this season - matching the 2023/24 total. They last managed 12 in 2022/23, but before that one has to go back to the 2002/03 campaign, when racking up 15.
Team: Lewis Hall and Matt Targett remain unavailable while Jamaal Lascelles is back in full training. The issues that affected Fabian Schar and Kieran Trippier at Brighton aren't expected to affect their availability for Sunday.
Joelinton has returned and may yet play some part in the remaining three games of the season, spending time in Brazil and then having a knee injection in Barcelona.
Coach Jason Tindall returns after a one game touchline ban prompted by racking up three yellow cards.
Coral rate this game as follows:
NUFC win 23/20
The draw 27/10
CFC win 21/10
CFC: Wesley Fofana, Omari Kellyman and Christopher Nkunku remain out, while Marc Guiu is doubtful.
Ahead of their visit to SJP, a 1-0 home win over Swedish side Djurgaardens on Thursday completed a 5-1 aggregate success and booked a spot in the Europa Conference League Final.
A 2-1 success at Fulham in Chelsea's last PL away game ended a winless sequence on the road in that competition stretching to eight games (five losses, three draws).
Referee: John Brooks - fourth posting of the season for the Leicestershire official and a second in the PL after the 1-0 victory over Arsenal. Brooks also took charge of the 2-0 Carabao Cup success at Arsenal and the Final at Wembley.

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Chelsea
Got a strong feeling in my water Tonali will score tomorrow with Isak getting a couple in a 3-1 win.
My problem is reconciling my gross behaviour with my net income.

Their away form is very encouraging, they really dont travel well and this is the furthest distance they have to travel, plus a noon kick off to boot.
Let's just say i feel very confident we will win.

Horrendous kick off time. Half 12 Saturdays are bad enough but this is taking the piss. Should be no games earlier than 2pm on a Sunday. Atmosphere will be dead becuase of it.

Think of us poor sods there. Early lunch or late lunch? It's tearing me apart already.

Just about to set off for the game, feeling very nervous but strangely confident - 2-1 Toon (Isak & Bruno).

Terribly hungover and stiff as hell from a lot of gardening yesterday. Totally forgot to eat as well. I might have eaten some crisps about 3pm?
Going to follow the match on the radio so I can enjoy the sunshine and sip a few hair of the dogs.
It's a must win game and we've got a bit of a good history with Chelsea coming up to SJP to lose. Isak and Murphy to score

Looking forward to this. We will be well up for it, so will they to be fair. But we should have enough. Be a belting game with us winning 3-1.
I'm not hungover and the not drinking malarkey is getting easier and showing positives. That being said due to dodgy streams I am thinking of sitting in the local to watch it

What even is this line up

It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city.

3 centres back like we did at home to Arsenal in the league cup semi with one coming out to press, Murphy and Tino wingbacks (trippier must be injured). Bruno and Tonali midfield pair, Gordon and Barnes in attack off Isak.
