Matchday thread - Toon v Gooners
Can we make it four wins against Artetas' lot this season and virtually guarantee Champions League football next season?
Newcastle's final away game of the season takes them to North London and a 4.30pm kick-off on Sunday at the Emirates Stadium, live on Sky Sports.
United go in search of an unprecedented fourth victory and clean sheet against Mikel Arteta's side this season, after their 1-0 PL win at SJP followed by the two-legged Carabao Cup success - 2-0 in London and 2-0 on Tyneside.
Their final away game of the season sees them seeking a ninth win on the road, their best ever PL return and something not achieved since the 2001/02 season - that total including a memorable 3-1 success at Highbury.
Team: Joelinton Kieran Trippier, Lewis Hall and Matt Targett will all miss out, with Joe Willock unlikely to feature against his old club.
Speaking on Friday, Eddie Howe refused to rule Sven Botman out of Sunday's game but confirmed that he had suffered an injury during the win over Chelsea.
Coral rate this game as follows:
NUFC win 29/10
The draw 13/5
AFC win 10/11
AFC: Mikel Merino is suspended after his dismissal against Liverpool and Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Magalhaes and Takehiro Tomiyasu won't be involved
Declan Rice is back in training after missing Sunday's 2-2 draw at Anfield with an unspecified injury while Kai Havertz is also predicted to return.
Referee: Simon Hooper - a fifth game of the season in charge of the Magpies for the Wiltshire-based referee.
Beginning with defeats at Chelsea and Brentford, Hooper took charge of the 2-0 win at Old Trafford and the 2-0 Carabao Cup second leg success against Arsenal at SJP.

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Gooners
My son thinks we'll absolutely batter them, I'm not so sure. A sneaky, Catain Black tear inducing 2-0 Toon win should do the trick.
My problem is reconciling my gross behaviour with my net income.

Big win today followed by Isak penning a new deal in the centre circle at the final whistle. WWE style.

Arsenal away has always been a tough ask. Head says a draw, heart says a win.

Forest 1- up
Some may feel it's better for Forest to lose - but I think not . Forest win keeps them in the hunt and they can do Chelsea ( or draw)
A Forest win today followed by a win or draw with Chelsea - means 3 points gets us into CL comfortably. Irrespective of what Villa do.
Any way you look at it - 3 points is enough for us

No Isak.
I'm the scumbag outlaw. You're the pillar of justice. Neither of us like looking at ourselves in the mirror. Do we have a deal?

If he’s not right makes sense to give him a break before Everton.

If its this on going groin issue that they keep putting off surgery, he might not even be available for Everton. He's obviously not been right for a bit.bodacious benny wrote: ↑Sun May 18, 2025 2:24 pmIf he’s not right makes sense to give him a break before Everton.

Not allowed to play against his parent club?
Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Gooners
If thers no Isak we could just swap Gordon for Isak at 9 and keep Barnes on left in a 4 3 3 with Miley in for JoeUlversToon wrote: ↑Sun May 18, 2025 2:24 pmArsenal XI: Raya, White, Saliba, Kiwior, Lewis-Skelly, Odegaard, Partey, Rice, Saka, Trossard, Martinelli.

Or if Botman is fit, 3 at back with Tino & Trips as wing backs - that still leaves room for midfield of Bruno , Tonali & Schar stepping out - with Gordon in middle & Murphy / Barnes either side
