Re: The Mackem Gap
It's 9 at the moment isn't it? The bastards are closing in on us. Apparently the only team on better form in the last 6 games than us is the Mackems. Thats what Cal said anyway. Someone should invite him over here.
Re: The Mackem Gap
Not too arsed with them, but they have overtaken Stoke as "the team in 8th", which is the team we are trying to stay away from. 9 points is still far away though.
Re: The Mackem Gap
Hmmmm I would like to think their bubble will burst and we can push on. However more likely the gap will be 5 or 6. They are 8th now

First post on here (and a i've had to crudely alter my name) but in response to the title, I'm genuinely not worried about them. Even if they do finish above us, which is still easily possible, we've had a brilliant season. Things seem to be going for us which hasn't happened for a long time.
There is no sin except stupidity.

Re: The Mackem Gap
Hopefully we get the finish we deserve, top 8 and if they finish above that then so be it! As long as we finish 7th/8th minimum then finishing above them will only be a nice addition to an already amazing season. I'd hate to base our success on finishing above them, like most of them seem to do for us.0 Crouching 0 Talent wrote:First post on here (and a i've had to crudely alter my name) but in response to the title, I'm genuinely not worried about them. I was at work tonight so watched their game and they had Norwich all over. Amazing goal and cracking assist by Campbell as well, he's like a new signing for them. It'll be close between us.
Kindly deeds done for free!
Re: The Mackem Gap
Next season will be closer. They'll have calmed down a bit after the "honeymoon period" but also wont have to make up for Bruce's terrible start.

Re: The Mackem Gap
They were inevitably going to improve after O'Neill arrived but the rate at which they have has even surprised me. Apparently all of their goals tonight were pretty good.

Re: The Mackem Gap
I've been surprised with us and Sunderland in terms of scoring great goals. The season we got relegated, we didn't actually score a good goal but since we've come back up, we regularly score absolute screamers.

The gap is still there and hopefully will be at the end of the season. Smug bastards think they're Barcelona lately.

Never mind the gap! What about their attendances? They falling rapidly. 33k v Boro, 34k there last night and it wasn't even on the telly. They're blaming the cold.......... soft twastards.

Re: The Mackem Gap
The Mackem gap is three times as big as the Champions League gap...
Re: The Mackem Gap
Pathetic, they go on and on about how brilliant O'Neill is (one of my mackem mates referred to them as "Sunderlona" earlier <cringe>), and they're still leaving 15000 empty seats??Sombrero wrote:Never mind the gap!
