Welcome to the ToonForumIndex match report for Newcastle United vs Everton, a bit later than usual but hopefully we'll be back up to speed before the end of the international break. If you've not read this feature before, an overview can be found at http://www.toonforum.co.uk/tfi/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

To come up with these figures we ask forum members to rate each player’s performance in the concerned game out of 10, then average these out. Comments on the players’ performance are also combined into an overall opinion of the board and Newcastle fans in general. The top scoring player is man of the match, the lowest being mug of the match. 24 members cast their votes and shared their opinions.

A suicidal first half performance left us 3 - 0 down at half time, and meant that the majority of the low scores were given to the players who shirked their defensive responsibility, although really there were only a couple who finished the first half having put in anywhere near what could be considered a decent performance. Half-time saw Pardew replace two of our worst performers; with Ben Arfa going off for Cabaye, who grabbed the game by the scruff of its neck and dragged up our team's performance level while getting a goal and our man of the match with a score of 7.40. At the back Williamson came on to replace the worst of our woeful back four, Yanga-Mbiwa, who picked up our mug of the match with a score of 2.69.

Krul - 3.67 Ratings ranged between 2 and 5.
What's happened to Krul recently? Our usually dependable goalkeeper puts in another poor performance. He could and maybe should have done better for at least two of Everton's goals, and didn't make a single noteworthy save outside of that. Only the linesman's flag saved him from a truly embarrassing performance as Lukaku actually had him beaten four times in the first half.

Debuchy - 4.69 Ratings ranged between 3 and 6.
Our best defender out of the starting line-up, which doesn't really say much. The best part of his game is no doubt going forwards, but our overall ball retention as a team is shoddy and so he's easily and often caught out of position, costing us over and over again. Despite this he was probably the only one of the back line to make a positive contribution, assisting Rémy's goal and making a tackle as the last man.

Yanga-Mbiwa - 2.69 Ratings ranged between 2 and 5.
Absolute travesty of a performance, he was ripped apart by Lukaku in what was probably one of the worst games of his career. Hopelessly out of position for all three of Everton's goals, substituted at half time and rightly so.

Coloccini - 3.50 Ratings ranged between 2.5 and 4.
Not quite as bad as Yanga-Mbiwa, but still had a poor game. He improved in the second half, but not by much. He had no answer to Everton's attacks and shouldn't have let the ball bounce for their third, a basic defensive error.

Santon - 3.40 Ratings ranged between 2 and 5.
Another poor performer. He got forward quite well but struggled when Everton's midfielders attacked. He bottled too many tackles and was beaten all too easily by Mirallas for the first goal.

Sissoko - 4.13 Ratings ranged between 3 and 5.
A shoddy performance from Sissoko, ineffective and aimless runs gave the ball away too easily, while he was also poor defensively. The worst of our central midfielders, he proved again that he's not a number 10 as he generally seemed lost all night and probably should have been subbed off at half time.

Tioté - 5.40 Ratings ranged between 3 and 7.
A poor first half but picked up his performance in the second, along with his customary yellow card. His passing was generally good as he tended to play it safe, as he should, and he got stuck in as well. However his main job is to sit in front of the back four and protect them, which he failed to do in the first half.

Anita - 6.25 Ratings ranged between 5 and 7.
Our best player in first half, he always tried to make something happen. He played his usual tidy, calm brand of football and Pardew's decision to take him off was questionable to say the least.

Gouffran - 6.04 Ratings ranged between 5 and 7.5.
One of our best players on the night, he tracked back and defended well, coping with Baines admirably in the first half, while being one of our more creative players in the second. He was unlucky not to have scored at the start of the second half, but he did notch up another assist as he helped create Cabaye's goal.

Rémy - 6.04 Ratings ranged between 5 and 7.
He struggled to get in the game for the most part, but improved in the last 10-15 minutes when he actually got service as the surged on to try and claw our way back into the game. He got his goal and could have equalised in the dying moments.

Ben Arfa - 4.25 Ratings ranged between 3 and 6.
Another ineffective performance from Ben Arfa, as he only made 12 passes in 45 minutes and when he did try to take on his man, Coleman had him in his back pocket. He sums up the team really well, he's extremely inconsistent with flashes of pure brilliance every now and again, but a lot of rubbish as well.

Cabaye - 7.40 (MOTM) Ratings ranged between 6 and 8.
Came on at half time for Ben Arfa and turned the game around. It's a bad sign when the guy who wanted to leave in the summer shows the most determination and passion in the team, but he made some brilliant passes and scored a stunner. You could see he was needed in first half, and credit to Pardew for bringing him on after seeing this.

Williamson - 6.79 Ratings ranged between 5 and 9.
He came on at half time for Yanga-Mbiwa and certainly seemed to sure things up at the back, winning the aerial battles and positioning himself well. He worked well with Coloccini, especially compared to the shambolic, error-strewn showing Colo had when paired with Yanga-Mbiwa earlier in the game. He also got forward to good effect at the end.

Cissé - 4.93 Ratings ranged between 3 and 6.
An impact sub without the impact. Cissé didn't really have the time or the service to get into the game. What little he did was good though, and he still managed to do more in that small time than in the whole of the Hull game.
