For the second season in a row Newcastle shocked Spurs at White Hart Lane, owing to a vastly improved second half performance. The visitors fell behind in the first half, with some poor defending leaving the ball around the penalty box for too long until eventually Ryan Mason, under no real pressure, dinked a cross for the unmarked Adebayor to head in from six yards. At half time, Pardew brought on Ameobi and Cabella, with the former making an instant impression as from kick-off Sammy sprinted down the left and Colback's precise ball flew over the unsuspecting Eric Dier for the substitute to drill home. From then on the game changed as Newcastle came back to life, and the victory was sealed with Cabella's pinpoint cross leading to Pérez's first Premier League goal.

We ask our forum members to rate each player’s performance in the concerned game out of 10, which we then average out to get a rating representative of the fans’ views, we also collect a few user comments to summarise how the player did and show a few different viewpoints from the board. The top scoring player is man of the match; the lowest is mug of the match. Ratings are from this thread, and a the time of writing highlights can be found here.

Man of the match was Sissoko, who did well in our poor first half and was very impressive in the second. He was moved slightly further forward and we finally began to see what he can do when played correctly. Pérez, Cabella and Ameobi also impressed for their contributions in the second half. Mug of the match was again Gouffran, with yet another anonymous performance. For the second match in a row the central midfield pairing did not impress our users.

Pardew's rating for this match were very varied, but the average turned out at 5.94, barely beating his rating in the opener to record his highest score of the season to this point. Some users could not forgive the poor first half, complaining that Pardew is only reactive and the game could have been lost by half-time. Others gave credit to Pardew's tactics for an unsuspected three points.

Krul - 6.22 Ratings ranged between 5.5 and 7
"Better kicking than usual."
"Looking much more solid than last season."
"Surprisingly had a quiet afternoon. Made his stops when he had to and he managed his box well."

Janmaat - 5.28 Ratings ranged between 4 and 7
"Had issues with Rose all day and offered little going forward."
"Best game for us; I was convinced we would concede loads due to him in the first half, where he was poor, but defensively, he was great 2nd half."
"Got caught out far too many times by Rose. He ball-watches too much as well, he needs to do some training drills on tracking his man."

Taylor - 6.25 Ratings ranged between 5 and 7.5
"His best game for a long long time."
"No idea where the defence were for Adebayors goal but looked solid during the second half."
"Managed the defence well. He could be captain if he used his brain better. I love how he attempts to block everything and he is performing better than Williamson was before he went out the team."

Coloccini - 6.14 Ratings ranged between 5 and 7
"Another good game but I wish he would be more commanding."
"No idea where the defence were for Adebayors goal but looked solid during the second half."
"Doesn't manage the defence well, and he shouldn't be captain. Having said that, he was good today despite switching off for the goal."

Dummett - 5.25 Ratings ranged between 3 and 6.5
"No issues defensively all day since Lamela was so narrow and Lennon got no ball. As good as he'll be going forward."
"I can see why Pardew picks him, decent defender."
"Had no clue where Adebayor was for the goal, but he was ok today."

Colback - 5.14 Ratings ranged between 4 and 6.5
"Poor first half, but improved in the second with a wonderful assist for Sammy. He also battled more in the second, not allowing Spurs to have as much time on the ball."
"A decent 2nd half, and Pardew definitely took the correct player off. Colback adds a much better balance than Vurn."
"Beige football. One nice pass all match, poor otherwise."

Anita - 4.11 Ratings ranged between 3 and 5.5
"Did nowt well, lost virutally every challenge and passing not great."
"Another poor performance where he didn't really do much. I don't think him and Sissoko can play together as their play depends on being a sort of deep-lying playmaker."
"Hardly in the game, still would have kept him on over Colback."

Obertan - 4.61 Ratings ranged between 3 and 5.5
"Kept getting caught out letting Rose overlap."
"Tried hard but was very non-productive."
"Pressured the ball, didn't do much else. Not his fault we were so awful in the first half though."

Sissoko - 8.03 Ratings ranged between 7 and 9
"MotM, powerful, direct, exciting."
"Brilliant, play him like this Pardew."
"Probably man of the match, was the only player who came out of the first half with anything to boast about and only improved in the second. It's what we've all been saying for six months: he's not a winger, he's a centre-mid and a good one at that especially with two other midfielders covering him."

Gouffran - 3.81 Ratings ranged between 2 and 6
"It's getting stupid now. Contributes nothing, gives the ball away, doesn't look arsed and hasn't since the start of the year. Waste of a squad space."
"I forgot he was on the pitch."
"Did nothing. Again."

Pérez - 7.06 Ratings ranged between 6 and 8
"Great finish and a nice couple of link-up passes but there is no way he should be up front on his own."
"Worked hard despite being isolated and took his goal well and was pestering the defence all afternoon."
"Great header, ran his socks off, could be good up front with Cisse."

Ameobi - 7.42 Ratings ranged between 6.5 and 8
"Took his goal great, got us back into the game and was full of running. Basically the opposite of Shola."
"Good goal, worked hard and is finally looking like he might turn into a Premier League player. Emphasis on might."
"Unreal finish. Made a huge difference, just as he did at Swansea. I've been very impressed with him this season."

Cabella - 6.72 Ratings ranged between 5 and 7
"Showed his class, will be a very good players with time."
"Looked dangerous the entire time he was on and stayed on his feet. Looks more like the player we thought we bought."
"A good assist and kept possession better than usual. Probably his best game for us so far."

Haïdara - N/A
N/A

Pardew - 5.94 Ratings ranged between 4 and 9
"Fair play, won this game tactically."

"Credit to him for two cracking subs, but in truth they should have been in from the start. Keeps playing Gouffran and Dummett despite neither of them showing anything to warrant it. He needs to be more proactive and less reactive. If we'd conceded two in the first half there's no way we would have come back."

"A disappointing starting 11 and it was obvious Pérez would be isolated up top on his own. Fair play to him though, his subs were all spot on and the second half we completely deserved the three points."

"Great win, needs to get rid of Gouffran ASAP but can't argue with the subs and the change in attitude after the break. We were poor in the first half, which can happen especially away from home but reacting to it is important and we did that well. Well done. EDIT: Knocking the cronut down a point for the smug post match interview."
