The difference between Riv and Shola is that Shola would have fallen towards the ball, managed to smack the ball with part of his arse and the ball would have been in the back of the net.Over The Line wrote:I think you're forgetting how frustrating it was to watch Shola. Armstrong would have his development wasted waiting around as 4th choice. And given Riv's value is at an all-time low, it's better off having him around as a last choice. I like having options - we always have so many injuries.hoofball wrote:We should get rid of Riviere as soon as we can; i'd be happy with Cisse, Mitrovic, Perez and Armstrong as a forward line for now. Next season perhaps let Cisse go and get another striker. Can't ever see Riviere above 4th choice.

He looks so good at Coventry! I hope we don't ruin him by not playing him when he comes back.Beatski wrote:thisI'm over Colo wrote: Armstrong would have his development wasted waiting around as 4th choice.

Arma could play Premier League football now.
Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (Summer 15/16)
It's a huge step up from League One to Premier League football.
Every time I see any PL youth players doing very well at lower league teams, I just remind myself that Shola scored 10 goals in 18 games in the Championship.

Armstrong looks as good as any youth player we've ever had. He's much more prolific and just looks better than even Carroll was at that age.

According to our preferred media partner Mirror, Obertan and Gouffran are wanted by St. Etienne and Nantes.

Really with Aarons, Perez, Thauvin and Sissoko there is no need for either of them to be near the first team.

Gouffran for sure. McClaren obviously sees something in No'bertan
Joe Kinnear: "I think they've got some magnificent midfield players; Tiote, Ben Afri, Yohan Kebab, Sissoko are very solid."

Cisse out, Austin in?
Cisse out, Austin in?
Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (Summer 15/16)
I wouldn't accept less then £8million for Cisse. He's a good proven goalscorer.

I like Cisse, but I think we'd be getting a younger, better all-round player with Austin.
Got a sneaking suspicion we'll sign Austin on deadline day- somebody bookmark this

5 million is too low for me even if he is out of contract soon.

Austin would be great addition. Be surprised if Cisse happy to play second fiddle. Riv might end up playing cup games only! Perez simply has to play somewhere.

Cisse has two years left doesn't he? Austin has just the one.

My worry with getting Austin is that he would expect to be first choice for the duration of his time here, and that would potentially hinder the progress of Mitrovic and, eventually, Armstrong.

I'd much rather we took any money for Austin and strengthened in defence and/or midfield.
After last night's game I've noticed that we could do better in CM than just Anita and Colback. A top quality deep-lying playmaker would be a big improvement to the team.

Would be ridiculous spending money on Austin even if we sold Cisse when a CB,LB and even CM is more of a priority.
In a perfect world we would have Tiote playing his destroyer role in front of the back four then a deep lying playermaker who's adept at set pieces in the mold of Cabaye
