Re: Ameobi offered new contract
I think he's a decent squad player, given how many we will lose this summer. Play him if Aarons, Cabella etc+ new signing are out

If this is Ashley 'bolting the horse on' then it's a shitty f***ing lame bastard twatting one-legged donkey of a horse
Re: Ameobi offered new contract
What is way more interesting than whether or not he's been offered a contract is that the club publicised the offer. That everything isn't completely behind closed doors is a new and interesting development.
I had the first custom w***

Re: Ameobi offered new contract
This is awful news. Ameobi really wouldn't make it into any other PL squad. He offers absolutely nothing, he can't run, can't pass, can't shoot, can't cross, can't dribble and to top it all he can only play 40 minutes before hes out of breath. How the f*** his he still paid to play football? Playing equivalent of John Carver.

The Ameobi hate on this forum is ridiculous
@ Obertans Magic Head - He 100% would get in many other Premier League squads.

Re: Ameobi offered new contract
Bog off is it 'hate', the vast majority of people think he s***. 75% of people in the Chronicle poll wouldn't give him a new contract, so you're in the minority here. He's just absolutely s***. He can't even run for fucks sake.beardface wrote:The Ameobi hate on this forum is ridiculous

Re: Ameobi offered new contract
We went into this season expecting him to barely feature and only Janmaat and Colback got more assists than him. We have a small squad, he is home grown and has potential to improve. Theres absolutely no reason to get rid of him.hoofball wrote:Bog off is it 'hate', the vast majority of people think he s***. 75% of people in the Chronicle poll wouldn't give him a new contract, so you're in the minority here. Re: Ameobi offered new contract
i might have to finish off the tfi stats accumulation this weekend so i can whip out some stats (since all other stats are inferior ), but Sammeobi had 2 goals and 5 assists by January (so probably 2 goals and 5 assists this season then )
Re: Ameobi offered new contract
This. I'm sticking no faith in a Chronny poll given the standard of internet Newcastle 'fan' I read on Twitter. He's not a worldbeater but he's a nuisance to fullbacks and has carved out a reasonable goal and assist record for a squad player. My straw poll of people who sit near me are happy with him, barring the grumpy man who hates all things Ameobi.beardface wrote:We went into this season expecting him to barely feature and only Janmaat and Colback got more assists than him. He's hardly going to be on megabucks and at his age an extension is justified.

Kindly deeds done for free!
Re: Ameobi offered new contract
Jak Alnwick, Adam Campbell and Remie Streete will all be seeking pastures new next season, whilst Facundo Ferreyra returns to Shakhtar Donetsk after completing his one year loan deal on Tyneside.
One whole season, 0 apps. Easily the worst loan signing we've ever had.

He's better than the likes of Gouffran and Obertan as well as young, we should be looking to keep him ahead of those two wastes of space.
Re: Ameobi offered new contract
He's a deceptively good player. Hopefully with the right coaching / manager he can become an important player for us, even if not necessarily a starter.

the vitriol towards him is weird. It has to be put into context.
He's not offered a new contract with the hopes that he's going to be our most important player, he's offered a new contract because he's been at the club since day one, not on a mega amount of wages, and is a decent squad player.
The argument is "oh well he's s***" great, if we cut all the "s***" players we'd have three players in the squad.
He's a useful player and has time to improve still, there is no reason not to offer him a new contract.
Be rational people, you can't go and sign 47 Ronaldo's, this is real life, not FIFA15 on the ol' playstation.
