Aleksandar Mitrović signs for Newcastle
Re: The Aleksandar Mitrovic Thread
Yeah I'm actually a little bit worried about him after reading some of the comments about him

At least it'll be more interesting than watching the placid likes of Shola, Riviere, Sammy, Obertan, Gouffran etc lope around aimlessly over the last few years.I want soutzoukakia smyrneika too wrote:Yeah I'm actually a little bit worried about him after reading some of the comments about him

Characters are good. If he's like Costa great.
Fights, stamps and elbows are almost as important as goals. You need people like that in a team otherwise you'll just get bullied out of the game and lose.

For sure, strong characters are needed, but not fights, stamps or elbows. Maldini is a good example of how you can have one without the other. Ill-discipline helps nobody.

I'll enjoy his character providing that he doesn't take it too far and starts getting red cards every month.
We really need more fighters in the side who have passion and actually give a s***.

Not sure if this has been posted yet but he definitely wasn't lying about being a fan of Newcastle United. This is from 2 years ago when he was still at Partizan, about 50 seconds in:

Also, he would have been so young when we were last good! Then again, I got into football late and by the time I was really paying attention and loving Newcastle we were lousy too

For those who claims NUFC is Mitrovics last resort should better reasearch a bit more. There is a clip on youtube were Lazar Markovic (Liverpool) interviews Mitrovic whilst playing for Partizan Belgrade. That was at least 4 years ago, he would´ve been 16 at the time. Mitrovic states that he would love to play for Newcastle since thats the team he supports outside of Serbia. Could have something to do with the colours, that is not known to me. But at least that shows me that he´s genuinly happy to join Newcastle and the problems where between the 2 clubs, not between his family and the club.

If he's a fan of ours even when we've been s*** that's even better. Just proves that he's not a fan purely from the glory days (even though we never actually won anything).I'm over Colo wrote:The interviewer is struggling to keep it togetherGoat wrote:Not sure if this has been posted yet but he definitely wasn't lying about being a fan of Newcastle United. Re: Aleksandar Mitrović signs for Newcastle
Oh for sure, I'm not complaining at all! Although I'm also not going to think that would make any difference in a couple years time if he performs well and bigger clubs come clamouring for him (nor am I saying that's what you or anyone else is implying)Goat wrote:If he's a fan of ours even when we've been s*** that's even better. Re: Aleksandar Mitrović signs for Newcastle
He did turn Chelsea down apparently, so maybe being a fan has played quite a big part in his decision. There will be other factors as well of course, like preferring not to be a bench warmer.I'm over Colo wrote:Oh for sure, I'm not complaining at all! I have no doubt he'll go eventually, but hopefully he gives us a good few years and maybe even sees out his 5 year contract. I'd be happy with that.
