To be fair, he's an important player in their side, and they're not out of the running for the promotion playoffs, so he does have a huge value to them.

We're not Man City, the money does run out. I think it was after the Jan window last season that Ashley said the pot was 'almost empty'. I'm sure Rafa has assurances but we won't be going overboard. With that in mind I'd prefer to spend as little as possible in this window, especially on unproven PL players.

Can't be that skint with a £40/£50m summer transfer profit + parachute payments.

I agree with what you're saying though. No way would I spend £20m on Cairney. We need a couple of loan / reasonably proced creative midfielders to get us through this season then overhaul for the PL if we go up.

I'm not saying spend £20m on Cairney, but we are a Championship team so we're going to be linked to Championship players, doesn't mean they're terrible and unable to make that step up which a lot of people seem to think.

Also, we've just been linked with Ince, again.

Ince would be a good signing but I can see Derby quoting stupid money. Same with Knockaert at Brighton for obvious reasons.
